Your Opportunity at SECURE

As our Class 5 Driver, you will be responsible for the safe, efficient, and timely transportation of metal materials between collection sites, recycling facilities, and customer locations using light-duty trucks and company vehicles. 

The Team

This role plays an important part in supporting daily recycling operations while delivering exceptional customer service and maintaining SECURE’s commitment to safety and operational excellence.

Work Environment

This is a Monday to Friday position working 8:00am to 5:00pm with rotational Saturday shifts as required, and is based out of Martensville, SK.

A Day in The Life

  • Operate company vehicles safely and in compliance with all local, provincial, and federal traffic laws and regulations.
  • Transport materials, equipment, and supplies between customer sites, collection locations, and recycling facilities in a safe and efficient manner.
  • Perform daily pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections and promptly report any maintenance or safety concerns.
  • Follow all SECURE and customer site safety policies, procedures, and requirements.
  • Accurately place, remove, and exchange waste bins and containers at customer locations as required.
  • Ensure transported materials are properly secured and comply with company, customer, and regulatory requirements.
  • Verify load information and documentation to ensure accuracy and compliance.
  • Maintain regular communication with dispatch and operations teams to coordinate schedules, routes, and customer requests.
  • Provide professional and courteous service when interacting with customers and site personnel.
  • Assist with general yard and facility operations as required, including organizing materials, maintaining housekeeping standards, and supporting equipment operators.
  • Maintain accurate records related to deliveries, pickups, inspections, and other operational activities.
  • Be available to work a regular weekday schedule with occasional overtime as operational requirements dictate.

Skills, Experience & Qualifications

  • Valid Class 5 Driver's License with a clean driving record.
  • Minimum 2 years of commercial or professional driving experience preferred.
  • Knowledge of applicable transportation, load securement, and road safety regulations.
  • Experience operating pickup trucks, cube vans, or other light-duty commercial vehicles is considered an asset.
  • Ability to perform basic vehicle inspections and identify maintenance concerns.
  • Strong commitment to safety and compliance.
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills.
  • Strong organizational and time management abilities with the ability to prioritize tasks and meet schedules.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
  • Physical ability to perform manual handling tasks, including lifting, loading, unloading, and conducting vehicle inspections.
  • Familiarity with GPS navigation systems and mobile communication devices.
  • Basic computer skills for completing electronic documentation and reports.
  • Ability to adapt to changing priorities, road conditions, and weather conditions while maintaining a strong safety focus.
  • Experience in the recycling, waste management, transportation, or industrial services industry is considered an asset.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to respond effectively to operational challenges.
