Job SummaryÂ
Develops new products for material handling applications including conveyors, sortation, automated storage, order fulfilment, and robotic systems.âŻIncludes development of specifications, device layout drawings, control schematics, PLC logic. May work with support of more senior engineers. Works closely with the overall team to design systems meeting the product requirements. Uses creativity and innovation to design the standard product offering.Â
Responsibilities
- Concept, design, develop and engineer products that add value and are a solution to customers and market needsÂ
- Collaborate and review with others on the development team to develop productsÂ
- Ensure products developed fit with current and future manufacturing operationsÂ
- Ensure products developed meet competitive and market demands for performance and costÂ
- Specify and develop a sequence of operations of automated equipmentÂ
- Prepares schematics and specifications for control panel fabricationÂ
- Develop Programmable Logical Control (PLC) programsÂ
- Maintain product develop schedules and cost estimatesÂ
- Follow established engineering standards and best practices including software revision controlÂ
- Perform prototype development and testingÂ
- Perform on site beta testing to ensure safety, reliability, and other performance metrics are metÂ
- Investigate product issues in the field and determine root causeÂ
- Domestic travel up to 40% in North America, mostly within the Continental United States.Â
Qualifications
- Bachelorâs degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field, or equivalent experienceÂ
- Minimum of 2 years of related experienceÂ
- Experience with sortation and conveyance equipment or robotics design requiredÂ
- Experience with Allen Bradley control software and tools requiredÂ
- Knowledge of electrical and safety codes for machine and equipment design including execution of risk assessments required
- Knowledge of industrial automation systems, including HMI and SCADAÂ
- Knowledge of controls/controllers and PLCsÂ
- Proficient with AutoCAD ElectricalÂ
- Ability to multi-task while maintaining attention to detail and deadlinesÂ
- Excellent verbal and written communication skillsÂ
- Team-oriented and collaborativeÂ
- Creative-thinking and problem-solving skillsÂ
- Ability to learn new technologiesÂ
- Self-motivatedÂ
- Ability to work non-traditional hoursÂ
