Key Responsibilities
About the role:
The EV Charger Hardware FAE serves as the technical interface between customers, sales, and R&D. This role provides pre‑ and post‑sales hardware support, assists with system integration and deployment, troubleshoots field issues, and ensures successful customer adoption of EV charging products.
Key responsibilities:
- Provide hardware technical support for DC EV charging products, including onsite and remote support.
- Support customers during pre‑sales and post‑sales phases with technical presentations, system architecture reviews
- Assist customers with installation, commissioning, and validation of EV chargers.
- Troubleshoot and resolve hardware, power, communication, and system‑level issues in the field.
- Analyze system logs, schematics, and test data to identify root causes and propose corrective actions.
- Interface with Sales, PM, R&D and service teams to escalate and resolve field issues.
- Review customer requirements and provide feedback to engineering for design improvements.
- Support pilot deployments, field trials, and customer acceptance testing.
- Create and maintain technical documentation, including application notes, SOW, and troubleshooting guides.
- Travel to customer sites as required (typically 30–50%).
Minimum Qualifications
Minium Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering, Power Electronics, Mechatronics, or related field.
- 2+ years of experience in hardware engineering or field application engineering.
- Strong understanding of power electronics, including:
- AC/DC power conversion
- DC fast charging architectures
- Isolation, grounding, and protection circuits
- Experience with EV charging systems (DC fast chargers).
- Ability to read and interpret schematics, block diagrams, and single‑line diagrams.
- Hands‑on troubleshooting experience with:
- Power modules
- Contactors and relays
- Sensors (current, voltage, temperature)
- Cooling systems (air/liquid)
- Familiarity with communication protocols, such as CAN, RS‑485, Ethernet, PLC, and Modbus.
- Strong customer communication and problem‑solving skills.
- Willingness to travel and provide onsite support.
Preferred Qualifications
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with EV charging standards:
- CCS, CHAdeMO, NACS
- IEC 61851, IEC 62196, IEC 61851‑23/‑24
- Familiarity with OCPP (1.6 / 2.0.1) at a system level.
- Experience supporting regulatory and metrology compliance, including CTEP/NTEP for California deployments.
- Experience working with CSMS platforms and backend integrations.
- Prior experience supporting customers in the field or in a manufacturing environment.
- Fluent in Mandarin and English (verbal and written) to effectively communicate with global teams.
