About the role
The Fraud Lending Analyst supports end-to-end fraud monitoring and investigations for lending products to ensure timely, accurate, and compliant fraud alert resolution. This role reviews fraud queues, validates suspicious activity, and executes required actions and reporting in line with internal controls and regulatory expectations. The analyst partners with Operations, Risk, and relevant stakeholders to reduce fraud losses and improve detection through insights and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Review and action assigned lending fraud queues, ensuring timely triage, investigation, and disposition of fraud alerts/cases.Â
- Provide insights to improve fraud rules; risk models; and decisioning logicÂ
- Assist in tuning fraud rules to balance fraud loss prevention and approval ratesÂ
- Participate in UAT for new fraud tools, lending products, and policy updatesÂ
- Identify control gaps ad recommend process improvementsÂ
- Conduct investigations for lending fraud typologies (e.g., application fraud, identity/synthetic identity, document manipulation, mule/third-party involvement, disbursement/repayment abuse, first/third-party fraud).Â
- Ensure high-quality case documentation, including clear rationale, evidence capture, and accurate case outcomes in case management tools.Â
- Execute AFASA-related processes end-to-end (e.g., funds actioning, case updates, disposition tracking) within required timelines.Â
- Complete final disposition communications and ensure required parties are notified within established process timeframes.Â
- Prepare and submit incident reports and RCLs with complete and accurate details, following prescribed templates and governance steps.Â
- Escalate high-risk or complex lending fraud cases promptly to senior team members and relevant stakeholders.Â
- Support data integrity checks by validating key fields, case attributes, and system outputs; report discrepancies and track resolution.Â
- Contribute to fraud loss reduction by identifying trends, root causes, and control gaps; recommend actionable improvements.Â
- Participate in at least one AI/automation or process improvement initiative (e.g., prompt/playbook creation, investigation checklists, workflow optimization).Â
- Adhere to SOPs, control requirements, and audit-ready documentation standards at all times.Â
- Complete mandatory training and participate in 70:20:10 development activities (on-the-job learning, collaboration, and formal training)Â
- Assistance in court appearances as needed.Â
Must Haves
- A Bachelor's Degree of any related field. Graduate of a non-technical course is acceptable, with strong technical aptitudeÂ
- Proven experience in transaction monitoring within a banking or financial services environmentÂ
- Must be open to a project-based role for 6 months.
- Strong analytical skills and attention to detailÂ
- Ability to navigate and leverage new tools and technologies for fraud detectionÂ
- Excellent communication and teamwork skillsÂ
- Comfortable working in a dynamic, agile environmentÂ
- Experience with lending fraud investigations and controls (application-to-disbursement lifecycle)Â
- Experience in Fraud Management/Transaction Monitoring. Familiar with MORB Guidelines and AFASA.Â
- Strong logical reasoning and investigative mindsetÂ
- Good to have: SQL and/or a programming language for data checks, basic analysis, and investigation supportÂ
- Ability to assess risk quickly, prioritize workload, and escalate appropriatelyÂ
- Strong written documentation skills (clear narratives, evidence-based decisions)Â
- Collaborative working style with the ability to coordinate with cross-functional stakeholdersÂ
