Job Description

Role and Responsibilities:

The department's mission is to coordinate complex hardware projects within a multidisciplinary team of engineers (hardware, FPGA, signal, test), while ensuring compliance with aeronautical standards (DO-254, ARP4754A, DO-160), cost control, adherence to deadlines, and performance targets. The Hardware Project Manager ensures reliability, safety, and compliance with airworthiness requirements throughout the development cycle.

Project Management and Coordination:

  • Identify the key skills required for project success and allocate tasks within the team.
  • Provide technical guidance to engineers and ensure the daily coordination of activities.
  • Plan, monitor, and adjust task execution to guarantee that commitments are met.
  • Support the team manager in steering and optimizing the performance of the hardware team.
  • Manage technical resources: internal staff, subcontractors, and external service providers as needed for the projects.

Technical Management:

  • Organize and assign technical team members to meet contractual requirements and ensure customer satisfaction.
  • Interact with project managers (Project Design Authority, System Engineering Manager, HW Work Package Manager) to align resources, skills, and priorities.
  • Ensure the execution of design activities and coordinate the new product development process.
  • Ensure technical feasibility and the achievement of series cost targets.

Engineering Activity Monitoring:

  • Manage the completion of engineering tasks while adhering to cost, schedule, performance, and quality standards.
  • Contribute to all phases of the hardware lifecycle: requirements analysis, architecture, design, development, integration, and verification.
  • Write technical specifications and documentation necessary to ensure compliance with customer, marketing, manufacturing, and hardware requirements.
  • Collaborate with PCB manufacturers and assemblers (EMS) to ensure manufacturability (DFM).
  • Produce workload estimates and schedules for new projects and proposals.

Documentation, Standards, and Quality:

  • Oversee the design of electronic boards incorporating FPGAs, in compliance with aeronautical standards (including DO-254).
  • Participate in defining hardware architectures, particularly to meet redundancy and safety requirements.
  • Work with the quality team to ensure the implementation of robust processes that comply with airworthiness requirements.
  • Ensure the consistency, traceability, and quality of technical deliverables.

Gestion et Coordination des projets : 

  • Identifier les compĂ©tences clĂ©s nĂ©cessaires Ă  la rĂ©ussite du projet et rĂ©partir les tâches au sein de l’équipe.
  • Encadrer techniquement les ingĂ©nieurs et assurer la coordination quotidienne des activitĂ©s.
  • Planifier, suivre et ajuster l’exĂ©cution des tâches pour garantir la tenue des engagements.
  • Soutenir le gestionnaire d’équipe dans le pilotage et l’optimisation des performances de l’équipe hardware.
  • GĂ©rer les ressources techniques : effectifs internes, sous‑traitants, prestataires externes selon les besoins des projets.

Pilotage Technique : 

  • Organiser et affecter les membres des Ă©quipes techniques pour rĂ©pondre aux exigences contractuelles et assurer la satisfaction client.
  • Interfacer avec les responsables projets (Project Design Authority, System Engineering Manager, HW WorkPackage Manager) pour aligner les ressources, les compĂ©tences et les prioritĂ©s.
  • Garantir l’exĂ©cution des activitĂ©s de conception et coordonner le processus de dĂ©veloppement des nouveaux produits.
  • S’assurer de la faisabilitĂ© technique et de l’atteinte des objectifs de coĂ»ts sĂ©rie.

Suivi des activités d'Ingénierie :

  • Piloter l’achèvement des tâches d’ingĂ©nierie dans le respect du coĂ»t, du calendrier, des performances et de la qualitĂ©.
  • Contribuer Ă  toutes les phases du cycle de vie matĂ©riel : analyse des besoins, architecture, conception, dĂ©veloppement, intĂ©gration, vĂ©rification.
  • RĂ©diger les spĂ©cifications techniques et la documentation nĂ©cessaire pour garantir la conformitĂ© aux exigences client, marketing, fabrication et hardware.
  • Collaborer avec les fabricants de PCB et les assembleurs (EMS) pour assurer la fabricabilitĂ© (DFM).
  • Produire des estimations de charge et des plannings pour les nouveaux projets et propositions.

Documentation, normes et qualité :

  • Superviser la conception des cartes Ă©lectroniques intĂ©grant des FPGA, en conformitĂ© avec les normes aĂ©ronautiques (dont DO‑254).
  • Participer Ă  la dĂ©finition des architectures matĂ©rielles, notamment pour rĂ©pondre aux besoins de redondance et de sĂ©curitĂ© (Safety).
  • Travailler avec l’équipe qualitĂ© pour garantir la mise en place de processus robustes et conformes aux exigences de navigabilitĂ©.
  • Veiller Ă  la cohĂ©rence, la traçabilitĂ© et la qualitĂ© des livrables techniques.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

  • Proven experience in hardware project management within a constrained environment (aerospace, defense, rail, or equivalent).
  • Solid understanding of electronic architectures, FPGAs, PCBs, and hardware development cycles.
  • Proficiency in aerospace standards (DO-254, ARP4754A, DO-160) or a strong interest in certified environments.
  • Ability to coordinate multidisciplinary teams and lead complex technical projects.
  • Excellent communication, leadership, organizational, and prioritization skills.
  • Bilingual in French and English.
