Role Overviewย ย 

Coupang Pay aims to make Coupang the most convenient online payment platform.
As a Senior Staff Backend Engineer on the Product Engineering team, you will go beyond feature development to define the technical direction of core payment domains and design and evolve highly reliable fintech systems that handle large-scale traffic.
As the technical owner of core payment servicesโ€”including Coupay, Koreaโ€™s first one-touch payment systemโ€”you will be responsible for system stability, scalability, security, and performance end to end. You will identify complex technical challenges and design and implement fundamental solutions to make payment services used by tens of millions of customers faster and safer.
You will also work closely with cross-functional partners such as Accounting, Treasury, and other Fintech engineering teams to lead the architecture of payment back-office systems, as well as settlement and reconciliation platforms, while improving operational stability.
In addition, you will act as a key contributor in elevating the technical bar across the organization through code review, design review, and technical guidance.

  • 15+ years of backend engineering experienceย 
  • Ability to design and operate large-scale distributed systems based on Java/Kotlin and the Spring Framework
