About this role

Security Engineer

Reporting to the Senior Director of Information Security, the Security Engineer role at Level Access will help the company meet its goal of being the most secure company in digital accessibility. Primary responsibilities include triaging second-line security alerts and defending the business against threats and malicious actors; operating vulnerability management tools and supporting business teams; managing the security awareness program to test and strengthen our weakest link—the humans; providing technical support for compliance audits; and using AI and other methods to improve and streamline operations and procedures.

Essential Duties

  • Security alert triage. Perform initial triage of disparate security signals and events to determine severity and drive response to potential business-impacting incidents.
  • Vulnerability management. Monitor and analyze vulnerability management tools and feeds; provide remediation guidance to downstream teams; and keep technical risk under control.
  • Security awareness. Operate the security awareness program, including course design, phishing simulations, reporting, and support for business teams and users.
  • Audit support. Support internal and external stakeholders as required to gather information and evidence for security governance activities and compliance audits.
  • AI and automation. Use AI and automation techniques to enhance compliance, facilitate business operations, and improve efficiency.
  • Business analysis. Undertake small projects to mitigate risk, support the team, and support other company objectives.

 

Qualifications and Skills

  1. Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Security, or a related field, plus one to three years of experience in information security; or equivalent work experience of 4–6 years.
  2. Solid understanding of networking protocols, operating systems, and cloud computing platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, GCP, Microsoft 365).
  3. Experience using business AI tools such as Microsoft Copilot, Atlassian Rovo, or Anthropic Claude.
  4. Experience with security tools and technologies, such as SIEM, IDS/IPS, DLP, vulnerability scanners, and security assessment tools.
  5. Exposure to building SaaS applications and/or modern software engineering practices.
  6. Time spent working within a professional IT environment serving a remote workforce with primarily SaaS-based business tools.
  7. Analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
  8. Communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work independently.
  9. Attention to detail and a proactive attitude to identifying and mitigating security risks.
  10. Commitment to continuous learning and professional development in the field of cybersecurity.

Desired but not required:

  1. Interest in, or prior experience with, compliance or data privacy.
  2. Security certifications and/or formal education (beyond degree requirements).
  3. Understanding of web accessibility.

This is a full-time salaried position with a competitive benefits package, including bonus opportunities and unlimited vacation/FTO. Salary is commensurate with experience. The role is being offered as a remote role in Ukraine.  As this role partners closely with North America–based stakeholders, candidates are expected to maintain a consistent daily overlap hours with EST business hours to ensure effective communication and collaboration.
