Job Summary

We’re hiring a Staff Backend Engineer to design and evolve the distributed systems powering Kaseya’s SaaS platform. This is a hands-on technical leadership role focused on building scalable backend services, improving platform reliability, and enabling AI-powered product capabilities. You’ll partner with Product, Data, Platform, and Engineering teams to deliver production-ready systems that support high-volume customer workloads.

Roles & Responsibilities

  • Design and build scalable backend services for a multi-tenant SaaS platform
  • Architect distributed systems supporting high-volume transactional and event-driven workloads
  • Design APIs, service integrations, and messaging patterns that support platform scalability and reliability
  • Improve observability, monitoring, performance, and operational readiness across production systems
  • Partner with Data and ML teams to integrate AI-powered capabilities into customer-facing workflows
  • Participate in incident response, root cause analysis, and reliability improvement initiatives
  • Lead technical design reviews and contribute to long-term platform architecture decisions
  • Mentor engineers and promote engineering best practices across teams

Required Qualifications

  • 8+ years of software engineering experience building production systems
  • Experience designing and operating distributed systems in a cloud environment
  • Experience building backend services using Go, Java, Python, Node.js/TypeScript, Rust, or similar technologies
  • Experience designing APIs, microservices, and event-driven architectures
  • Experience working with AWS, Azure, or GCP

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience operating systems supporting large-scale or high-volume workloads
  • Experience with messaging technologies such as Kafka, RabbitMQ, SQS, or Pub/Sub
  • Experience with observability platforms such as Datadog, Prometheus, Grafana, or OpenTelemetry
  • Experience leading platform modernization or large-scale architecture initiatives
  • Experience integrating AI or machine learning capabilities into production systems
  • Experience mentoring engineers and leading technical design reviews
  • Experience working with relational databases and distributed caching technologies
