About this role

Who we are

Neros is a defense technology company rebuilding America’s drone industrial base. We design and manufacture high-performance unmanned systems that are tested in combat, iterated at startup speed, and built at massive scale. Our team culture is fast, hands-on, and obsessed with closing the gap between design and deployment.

As drones transform the character of warfare, Neros is delivering the systems the West needs to compete on the modern battlefield and deter the adversaries of democracy. We’re hiring engineers, operators, and builders who want to move fast, take on extreme ownership, and get capability into the hands of warfighters in months, not years.

What you will be doing

As a Field Instructor, you’ll serve as the lead of a Mobile Training Team (MTT), delivering mission-critical training to warfighters across the U.S. and abroad. You’ll report to the Training Lead and act as the primary point of contact for your training deployments—owning classroom delivery, managing logistics, interfacing with customer stakeholders, and upholding the highest standards of professionalism, safety, and instructional clarity.

You’ll lead discussions, guide students through simulator and hands-on exercises, and assess individual performance using standardized evaluation criteria. When not actively training, you’ll support curriculum development by providing field-informed feedback, assist in managing training equipment, and help refine instructional methods for future iterations.

This role requires travel expectations of 50%

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the lead instructor and customer-facing point of contact for all field training operations within your MTT
  • Deliver classroom instruction using standardized Neros curriculum, ensuring engagement and comprehension across varying skill levels
  • Coach students through hands-on troubleshooting and system operation while adapting instruction to their skill level, mission needs, and field conditions
  • Manage pre- and post-course logistics, including scheduling, site setup, gear preparation, and customer coordination
  • Maintain detailed training records, rosters, sign-in sheets, and pass/fail assessments using defined grading criteria
  • Submit after-action reports, performance summaries, and feedback to the Training Lead
  • Identify trends or challenges in student performance and provide structured feedback to help refine future curriculum
  • Collaborate with the FPV Flight Instructor and cross-functional teams—including Mission Success—to ensure training aligns with operational realities and system capabilities
  • Maintain professionalism and instructional quality across both classroom and range environments

You should have the following

  • Experience teaching, coaching, or mentoring adults in technical or tactical environments
  • Exceptional communication, facilitation, and classroom leadership skills
  • Familiarity with FPV systems and UAV operations, including basic air and ground components
  • Confidence leading groups in both classroom and field environments, with the ability to adapt on the fly
  • Strong organizational and documentation skills, including grading, reporting, and inventory tracking
  • A high level of composure and professionalism in fast-paced or austere conditions
  • A mission-first mindset, willingness to travel, and a strong sense of ownership over training outcomes
  • Must be able to carry 50 lbs. of equipment over 5 km of varied terrain, stand for extended periods while wearing body armor, and tread water for a minimum of 10 minutes

Nice to have

  • Prior military experience
  • Experience using flight simulators as part of training programs
  • Working knowledge and experience with ATAK
