About the team

Our finance team is responsible for shaping our understanding of how Stripe is performing as a business, as well as what our best opportunities are for continued growth. We're looking for an experienced financial controller to join our International Accounting team. As a key part of our controllership team in Singapore, you'll help us build our technical accounting and financial reporting processes, work with business partners, financial partners, external stakeholders, and our world-class engineers. You'll help us develop best-in-class accounting processes and help track our progress within a fast-paced environment that's growing globally.

What you'll do

Responsibilities

  • Lead financial close processes—Manage the monthly close of US GAAP books and local books, including balance sheet reconciliations, supporting schedules, fluctuation analysis, and other reporting deliverables. 
  • Statutory audit process—Own the end-to-end statutory audit process, including the financial statement preparation under relevant local GAAP, technical memos, and audit support, culminating in presentations to the board of directors for the assigned entities. 
  • Technical expertise—Maintain fluency with US GAAP and IFRS, research, document, and drive the necessary technical accounting memos. 
  • Cross-functional collaboration—Participate in cross-functional projects for new initiatives and partner effectively with Tax, Transfer Pricing, Treasury, Corporate Accounting, Regulatory Compliance, and Legal teams on diverse projects, or to support financial decision-making. 
  • Outsourcing management—Carefully supervise finance outsourcing partners to ensure they meet compliance and filing requirements in a timely and accurate manner. 
  • Process efficiency—Drive improvement on the existing processes through finance transformation initiatives and automation projects, including AI identification, recommendation, and implementation. 
  • Regulatory compliance—Prepare regulatory and statistical returns or surveys to the regulators or government agencies, and stay informed on changes in accounting and tax regulations. 
  • Tax review—Work closely with the tax team to ensure local entity tax compliance and provide accounting support for tax audits and reviews. 
  • Business support—Support new product and entity launches where technical accounting advice is required. 
  • Budgeting—Support budgeting, forecasting, actuals, and variance analysis of the finance outsourcing partners.

Who you are

Minimum requirements

  • Experience—8+ years of professional accounting experience, preferably with a large accounting firm audit background 
  • Systems proficiency—Excellent knowledge of accounting systems (e.g., Oracle or equivalent) and experience in AI automation 
  • Audit knowledge—Experience handling large audits (central and local teams), statutory reporting, and tax compliance. Experience with Workiva FS preparation. 
  • Accounting expertise—Strong knowledge of U.S. GAAP and IFRS 
  • Project management—Demonstrated success in managing cross-functional initiatives 
  • Communication skills—Excellent written and verbal communication in English 
  • Adaptability—Flexible with changing requirements in a fast-paced and growing environment, with the ability to multi-task and work collaboratively as well as independently 
  • Certification—Qualified accountant with accounting certification, such as ACCA, CA, or equivalent • Degree in Accounting or Finance 
  • Problem solver—Strong passion for solving complex challenges 
  • Self-starter—Self-motivated and proactive with a desire to succeed

Preferred qualifications

  • Background—Knowledge of or experience in the payments, fintech, or financial services industries 
  • Tech experience—Accounting experience in a fast-growing tech environment 
  • Technical skills—Hubble or SQL experience beneficial
