Buyer - Trimmings

The Buyer – Trimmings plays a pivotal role in Suitsupply’s supply chain, leading the end-to-end sourcing and purchasing of trimmings across a network of approximately 45 suppliers. Based in Shanghai and reporting to the Buying Lead in Amsterdam, you will own day-to-day negotiations, order placement, and supplier coordination to ensure best-in-class quality at the most competitive price. This is a hands-on role with a strategic edge: you balance commercial execution with longer-term thinking on supplier development, cost positioning, and category growth. Through close collaboration with design, product development, and production teams, you will align on priorities and drive meaningful impact across the trimmings category. What you will do

• Manage end-to-end purchasing of trimmings across approximately 45 suppliers, from order placement through delivery follow-up.
• Lead price negotiations and commercial discussions to secure the best balance of cost, quality, and lead time.
• Coordinate order flows with factories, ensuring timing, quantities, and specifications meet our production requirements.
• Continuously scout new suppliers and product opportunities, benchmarking quality and pricing against market alternatives.
• Build and maintain strong, long-term supplier relationships, conducting regular reviews and on-site visits.
• Drive cost-saving initiatives and process improvements across the trimmings category.
• Monitor quality consistency, lead times, and supplier performance, and act on issues before they escalate.
• Partner closely with the Buying Lead in Amsterdam and with design, product development, and production teams to align on priorities.
• Stay on top of market trends, materials innovation, and pricing dynamics in the trimmings space.

Who you are

• Several years of buying, sourcing, or merchandising experience, ideally in apparel trimmings, accessories, or related categories.
• Proven success in supplier negotiations and managing a sizeable supplier portfolio.
• Strong commercial instinct combined with strategic thinking — comfortable executing today’s orders while improving tomorrow’s supplier setup.
• Sharp eye for quality and a genuine interest in product, materials, and craftsmanship.
• Highly organised, with the ability to manage many parallel orders and suppliers without losing precision.
• Fluent in both Chinese and English, written and spoken — you will work daily across our Shanghai and Amsterdam teams.
• Confident communicator, comfortable building relationships across cultures and time zones.
• Willing to travel within China to visit suppliers and factories as needed.
