Senior Systems Engineer (プリセールスSE) – Japan

NETGEAR is seeking a technically skilled and customer-focused Senior Systems Engineer (プリセールスSE) to support our growing Enterprise IT and ProAV business in Japan.

In this role, you will partner closely with account managers, channel partners, and customers to design and deliver enterprise networking solutions across wired, wireless, and cloud-managed environments. You will act as a trusted technical advisor throughout the pre-sales and post-sales lifecycle, ensuring successful deployments while building long-term customer relationships.

You will also collaborate with global teams to share customer insights and contribute to ongoing product innovation. This position is ideal for someone who enjoys combining deep technical expertise with customer engagement in a dynamic and growing market.

Work Location & Style

  • Based in Japan (Tokyo area preferred)

  • Hybrid work environment (remote + on-site customer visits)

  • Domestic travel required (~25–50%, depending on territory and projects)

Key Responsibilities

  • Partner with account teams to deliver pre-sales technical consultation, solution design, product demonstrations, and proof-of-concepts tailored to enterprise customer requirements

  • Design and support deployment of enterprise-grade networking solutions, including Wi-Fi, switching, routing, security, and cloud-managed platforms

  • Present technical solutions to a variety of audiences, including enterprise IT teams, channel partners, and internal stakeholders

  • Support smooth transition from pre-sales to post-sales by working closely with customers and NETGEAR Support, including troubleshooting and escalation management

  • Gather and communicate customer feedback and technical requirements to Product Management to support continuous product improvement

  • Design secure network architectures aligned with Zero Trust principles, including segmentation, role-based access, and secure onboarding

  • Promote adoption of cloud-managed networking platforms, including capabilities such as:

    • Zero-touch provisioning

    • Real-time monitoring and alerts

    • Firmware lifecycle management

    • Network analytics

  • Conduct RF planning and wireless network design using tools such as Ekahau (or similar)

  • Enable and support channel partners (MSPs, VARs, distributors) through technical training, joint customer engagement, and solution guidance

  • Maintain awareness of competitive technologies, market trends, and evolving enterprise networking needs

Required Qualifications(必須条件)

  • 5+ years of experience in Systems Engineering, Network Engineering, or customer-facing technical roles (e.g., プリセールスSE, 技術営業)

  • Strong technical knowledge of:

    • Wi-Fi technologies (Wi-Fi 6 / 6E / 7)

    • Layer 2/3 networking (switching, VLANs, routing, QoS)

    • Enterprise networking fundamentals

  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills across wired and wireless environments

  • Business-level Japanese (required for customer engagement)

  • Business-level English (used for internal communication and collaboration with global teams)

    • ※ One language may be stronger; willingness to use both in daily work is important

Preferred Qualifications(歓迎条件)

  • Experience with cloud-managed networking platforms (e.g., NETGEAR Insight or similar solutions)

  • Knowledge of Zero Trust security concepts (identity-based access, segmentation, etc.)

  • Experience using RF design tools (Ekahau, Hamina, or similar)

  • Industry certifications (CCNA, CCNP, CWNA, or equivalent)

  • Experience working with channel partners, MSPs, or mid-market enterprise customers

  • Experience with AV over IP solutions
