• Coupang Eats 검색 시스템의 설계, 개발, 운영 및 개선
• 검색 퍼널 위한 머신러닝 모델 및 기반 모델 구축 및 적용
• 검색 품질 향상을 위한 LLM 기반 모델 연구, 튜닝 및 적용
• 대규모 데이터 분석을 통해 의미 있는 피처를 도출하고 모델 성능 개선
• 가설 검증을 위한 온라인 실험(예: A/B 테스트) 설계 및 분석
• 한국 및 일본의 다양한 비즈니스 영역에서 검색 관련 문제 해결
• 검색 품질, 시스템 안정성, 확장성 간의 트레이드오프 균형 유지
• 엔지니어링, 프로덕트, 비즈니스 조직과의 협업

자격 요건 

• 머신러닝 모델 개발 경험 1년 이상 혹은 이에 준하는 역량
• Python 이나 Java 코딩 스킬

• 다양한 조직과의 협업 역량

Team Overview

Coupang Eats is offering both food delivery and quick-commerce solutions to Korean customers. Additionally, the food delivery experience is also available in the Japanese market. Within this space, the team is responsible for the search funnel for these 3 verticals. This encompasses all the different layers of search (retrieval, relevance query understanding, ranking, etc.).

Search is a fast-growing area, and we are working to improve the quality of search to ensure that customers find the best dish, store or item for them. We use the state-of-the-art Machine Learning and Deep Learning technologies to ensure the best quality of search, and we are continuously innovating and building highly scalable systems to support the growing business and customer engagement.

Role Overview

As a Machine Learning Engineer for Search, you will be responsible for the design, development, maintenance, and improvement of search quality and systems. Since the scope ranges across all the search layers (retrieval, relevance query understanding, intent expression, ranking, etc.) there are a wide range of customer problems to resolve. This will require designing and maintaining multiple foundational models. You will run experiments to validate in a controlled environment and launch features and ranking improvements that would improve the customer experience.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop, operate, and improve Coupang Eats search system
• Build and implement machine learning models and foundational models across the search funnel
• Research, fine-tune, and apply LLM-based models to improve search quality
• Analyze large-scale datasets to discover meaningful features and improve model performance
• Design and analyze online experiments (e.g., A/B tests) to validate hypotheses
• Solve search-related problems across multiple business verticals in Korea and Japan
• Balance trade-offs between search quality, system stability, and scalability
• Collaborate with stakeholders across engineering, product, and business teams

Basic Qualifications

• 1+ years of experience developing and deploying machine learning models
• Proficiency in Python or Java
• Strong problem-solving skills
• Ability to quickly learn, proactively identify problems, and deliver business impact
• Experience collaborating across teams

Preferred Qualifications

• Master’s degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, or a related field
• Experience applying and tuning LLMs for search quality improvement
• Strong communication skills with the ability to explain technical concepts
• Language proficiency – Korean is a must, English is a plus
