🌍 About Us

NPX partners with nuclear utilities and new reactor projects to unlock performance through innovation. We combine decades of nuclear expertise with AI, digital tools, and lean processes, to help plants run safer, smarter, and more cost-effectively. Our Design Engineering team scales this expertise through advanced electrical, mechanical, and instrumentation & control (I&C) design practices to clients across Canada.

🧠 The Role

A Design Engineering Intern will gain hands on experience across a variety of nuclear design engineering projects. You’ll help resolve emergent issues, perform engineering calculations and analyses, support maintenance and procurement activities, and assist with minor design changes. You will gain meaningful, real-world experience, while applying classroom knowledge to practical challenges in the nuclear industry. You’ll bring curiosity, creativity, and problem-solving skills to a team that values fresh perspectives and innovative thinking.

Depending on your background and areas of interest, the role may align with either the Mechanical Design team or the Electrical & I&C Design team.

  • Collaborate with design engineers and stakeholders to develop high‑quality designs and review supporting documentation, technical specs, codes, standards, and test/implementation plans.

  • Participate in plant walk‑downs to assess equipment and gather design inputs.

  • Prepare and present technical information to internal and external audiences.

  • Support daily project activities, coordinating with stakeholders to ensure deliverables meet quality expectations.

  • Contribute to innovation and technical advancement projects, including research into new technologies and their potential applications in the nuclear industry.

  • Incorporate lessons learned into processes to strengthen future design work.

  • Condition of Employment: All NPXers are required to obtain a nuclear security clearance as a condition of employment. We'd help you every step of the way but wanted to let you know!

✨ What You Bring
