Job Overview

We are currently seeking a skilled and enthusiastic Paediatric Speech and Language Therapist to join a mainstream school with an attached ASD base in South London. This flexible role offers either a full-time split post across mainstream and ASD provisions, or a part-time position (3 days per week) working solely within the mainstream school.

You will support children with Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC) and a range of Speech, Language and Communication Needs (SLCN), working closely with school staff and families to help pupils achieve their communication and learning goals. This opportunity is suitable for Band 6 or Band 7 therapists looking for flexibility while working within a supportive educational setting. Experience with dysphagia is welcomed but not essential.


Key Responsibilities

In this role, you will:

  • Assess, diagnose, and treat children with Speech, Language and Communication Needs in mainstream and ASD school settings.

  • Deliver individualised, evidence-based therapy interventions to support communication, learning, and social development.

  • Work collaboratively with teachers, SEN staff, parents/carers, and the wider multi-disciplinary team.

  • Contribute to EHCPs, reviews, and progress reporting.

  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date clinical documentation in line with professional standards.

  • Use dysphagia management skills where appropriate and within your scope of practice (if applicable).


Qualifications and Experience

To be considered for this role, you must have:

  • A recognised degree in Speech and Language Therapy (or equivalent).

  • HCPC registration and eligibility for membership of the Royal College of Speech and Language Therapists (RCSLT).

  • Experience working with children with ASC and SLCN, ideally within school-based settings.

  • Strong communication, organisational, and interpersonal skills.

  • A flexible, proactive, and child-centred approach to practice.

  • Dysphagia experience is desirable but not essential.
