Overview
The Occupational Therapist (OT) provides patient-centered occupational therapy services on an as-needed basis to individuals in an acute care setting.
Responsibilities
The OT is responsible for assessing functional needs, developing treatment plans, and providing interventions to restore and/or enhance the patient's ability to perform activites of daily living (ADLs) and improve functional independence. Responsibilies include: evaluate patients' functional status in areas includibng mobility, self-care, cognition, and psychosocial aspects. Develop and implement individualized treatment plans based on physician orders, clinical findings, and patient goals. Provide interventions to improve physical. cognitive, and/or psychosocial functioning related to illness or injury. Collaborate with physicians, nurses, physical therapists, speech therapists, and case managers to ensure coordinated care. Document patient assessments, progress notes, treatment plans, and discharge summaries in accordance with hospital and regulatory standards. Educate patients and caregivers on therapeutic techniques and strategies for continued care. Participate in discharge planning, including recommending durable medical equipment (DME) and home modifications. Maintain current knowledge of evidence-based practicies in acute care occupational therapy.
