The Neonatal Nurse Practitioner is an Advanced Practice Registered Nurse that helps with all aspects of patient care, including diagnosis, treatments, and consultations in the NICU.
Responsibilities
Conducts patient assessments through interviews, health histories, physical exams, and diagnostic studies.
Identifies abnormal findings and collaborates with healthcare teams to develop treatment plans.
Implements patient management and therapeutic plans based on assessments, lab results, and established protocols.
Performs detailed history and physical exams, triages patients, and participates in multidisciplinary rounds.
Documents patient care accurately and timely, including reports, progress notes, and discharge summaries.
Provides compassionate, age-appropriate care while supporting patients and families.
Collaborates with healthcare professionals and shares clinical expertise to ensure quality and continuity of care.
Maintains compliance with organizational policies, regulatory standards, and patient rights while supporting quality improvement.
Qualifications
Education/Training
- MN or MSN or DNP or PhD or DNS degree in nursing required.
Licensure/Certification
- CRNP Licensure (Neonatal Specialty) with Alabama State Board of Nursing
- NRP
Experience
- Must have at least one year of NP NICU Experience
