Overview
The Maintenance Mechanic is responsible for providing building trade assistance in the construction, repair, and maintenance of facilities - all in accordance with Racker’s vision and mission. Our Maintenance Mechanics support the infrastructure that creates safe, and functional spaces for the vital community services that Racker offers to individuals with disabilities.
Hourly Rate: $21.50 - $23.50

Responsibilities
- Provide building trades assistance in the construction, repair, and maintenance of facilities, and related services to support center operations and personnel in a manner that reflects The Centers’ values as defined in the Mission, Vision, Guiding Principles and Code of Conduct
- Assist in the construction, repair and maintenance of facilities using various skills of the trade (e.g. plumbing, carpentry, electrical, painting, masonry, heating/air conditioning, etc.)
- Operate and maintain equipment and vehicles in a safe manner
- Assist the Maintenance Supervisor and Director of Facilities in the completion of duties outlined under the Facilities Department
- Uphold standards of professionalism with regard to behavior and dress
- Assume responsibility for related duties as required or assigned
- Facilty Water Testing responsibilities
Qualifications
Education/Certification: High School diploma or equivalent; a clean New York State Driver’s License
Experience: A minimum of four (4) years in one of the trades and a working knowledge of two or more trades. Tasks relate to the entire field. Knowledge of maintenance practices and procedures; understanding of governmental regulations for a safe workplace.
Preferred Qualifications: Water Testing Certification for New York State
Qualities: Ability to lift more than 50 pounds, Ability to make routine decisions within limits established by policies or by supervisor: ability to function in diverse working conditions and with hazards such as chemicals and substances requiring careful use; ability to handle equipment requiring close attention; ability to use protective equipment and devices; familiarity with computers, i.e. e-mail and electronic work requests via a web based system as well as managing personal employee account information via web based systems. Ability to work productively with minimal supervision. Ability to use creative problem solving to find safe and suitable solutions.
