Job Summary and Responsibilities
Perioperative Clinical Nurse Educator
As our Perioperative Clinical Nurse Educator, you will be instrumental in shaping the future of perioperative nursing, enhancing the skills of our team, and upholding the highest standards of patient care in our operating rooms, pre-operative, and post-anesthesia care units. Every day you will develop and deliver educational programs, provide bedside mentorship, and implement evidence-based practices to ensure our perioperative nurses are equipped for excellence. You will be expected to guide clinical practice according to policies, procedures, and the State Nurse Practice Act. To be successful in this role, you must be an experienced perioperative nurse, a passionate educator, and a leader dedicated to continuous learning and quality improvement within the surgical environment.
Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and deliver comprehensive educational programs, in-services, and competencies for perioperative nursing staff, encompassing new hire orientation, ongoing professional development, and specialized training (e.g., new surgical techniques, equipment).
- Provide direct bedside clinical mentorship and coaching to perioperative nurses, assessing educational needs, identifying knowledge gaps, and fostering critical thinking and clinical judgment in the OR, PSCU, and PACU settings.
- Implement and evaluate evidence-based practices and clinical guidelines within the perioperative department, ensuring adherence to national standards (e.g., AORN), best practices for patient safety, and regulatory compliance.
- Act as a clinical expert and resource for perioperative staff, guiding them through complex patient cases, troubleshooting challenges, and promoting a culture of continuous learning and professional growth.
- Collaborate effectively with perioperative leadership, surgeons, anesthesiologists, quality improvement teams, and other educators to identify educational needs, address performance gaps, and contribute to department-wide strategic goals.
- Facilitate staff compliance with mandatory education, certifications, and licenses, tracking progress, and maintaining accurate records of educational activities to support professional development and regulatory requirements.
THIS JOB OFFERS BOTH AN INCENTIVE AND RELOCATION: We are offering a $5,000 Sign-On Bonus in addition to relocation to new hires who meet the eligibility requirements.

Job Requirements
Required Qualifications
- Required Education:
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN)
- Completion of Masters Of Science in Nursing (MSN) within 5 years of start date
- Required Experience:
- Minimum three (3) years relevant nursing experience
- LICENSURE Active Registered Nurse multi-state compact license in good standing to practice in North Dakota
- Working knowledge of perioperative nursing practice, adult learning principles, and current evidence-based practices in surgical services
- Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) Certifications within the orientation period and meets re-certification as required
- Good communication skills necessary for constant communication, both oral and written, with patients, families, visitors, and medical center staff
- Accountable for own conduct and promotes and supports positive working relationships among staff, between other disciplines, departments, families, visitors, and patients
- Maintains confidentiality
