Mercy Medical Center Redding offers comprehensive health care to nearly 300,000 residents in a six-county region. It is one of only two Level II trauma centers, the only Level III Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) and the only Joint Commission-certified Advanced Thrombectomy-Capable Stroke Center north of Sacramento north of Sacramento. Mercy Medical Center Redding is a 266-bed regional medical center providing inpatient and outpatient services as well as specialized cardiovascular care, stroke care, orthopedics, neurological surgery, comprehensive cancer care, maternity care, and a robust robotic surgery program. Job Summary and Responsibilities

• Performs routine physical/psychosocial assessment to collect basic data: follows the written plan of care, standards, practice guidelines, utilizes pathways, which includes notifying physicians as appropriate
• Formulates a plan of care for individual needs, including patient population needs. Participates in the planning of routine transitional health care needs (i.e. treatment options, patient placement options)
• Adapts planned educational programs and information to individual patients and family by modifying teaching strategies or content. Integrates education during the delivery of patient care
• Ensures efficiency in the delivery of care to determine immediate priorities and to offer solutions for problems
• Makes independent clinical decisions based on knowledge drawn from education and experience
• Actively advocates for patient rights and identifies potential conflict. Seeks counsel for resolution of conflict

Job Requirements

Minimum Qualifications:

• Associate's degree in Nursing from an accredited school of nursing required
• Current California RN license
• 1 year of current, continuous L&D experience; If operationally able, will consider training opportunities for those with less than 1 year of experience.
• Advanced fetal monitoring or must be obtained at first available class after hire
• Verbal and written communication skills and computer skills
• Current BLS, ACLS and NRP certifications (must be certified through the American Heart Association)

Preferred Qualifications:

• Bachelor's of Science in Nursing from an accredited school of nursing
• One year of recent hospital experience and/or previous nursing practice experience
• Current certification from a nationally recognized accrediting organization (i.e. the National Certification Corporation (NCC)
