Job Summary and Responsibilities
As our Unit Aide, you will provide essential non-clinical support and comfort to patients and staff, assisting other members of the healthcare team with providing basic patient care under the direction of a Staff Nurse.Every day you will support daily unit operations by assisting with patient comfort needs, transporting patients, performing light cleaning, stocking supplies, and relaying messages to nurses to ensure an organized environment.To be successful in this role, you will exhibit a helpful, compassionate demeanor, strong attention to detail, and a proactive approach to maintaining unit efficiency and team support within a dynamic healthcare setting.
- Demonstrates adherence to the standards of conduct requirements
- Transporters will transport medications in a safe manner Transporters are not allowed to transport controlled substances Transporters may not leave any medication unattended Medications must be immediately given to the RN receiving the patient
- Reports all observed symptoms, reactions, treatments and changes in the patient's condition to the licensed nurse. Demonstrates clinical/technical expertise in general nursing skills Understands age specific variations in patient population.
- Documents patient care measures according to patient care standards, policies and procedures. Manages age specific needs through appropriate adaptation of interventions (as directed by the licensed nurse).
- Assists in and accompanies patients in the admission, transfer, transport, and discharge procedures. Provides for safe care of patient valuables during these processes Utilizes proper body mechanics when performing job duties.
- Provides for patient safety according to TJC standards Writes legibly. Properly identifies patients per policy.
Job Requirements
Required
- High School GED
- 1 year general hospital experience
- American Heart Association Basic Life Support Cert. (AHA BLS Cert)
