Job Summary and Responsibilities

As a Research Tech, you will perform standard laboratory procedures with some independence, under the general supervision of a PI or Research Technician. Your contributions are vital for efficient lab operations.Every day you will execute experimental protocols, collect/record data, and maintain lab equipment. You may also perform complex procedures and provide guidance to students.To be successful in this role, you will possess a strong foundation in lab techniques, meticulous attention to detail, and work effectively independently and collaboratively. Reliability, safety adherence, and a willingness to learn are key.

 

The Ivy Brain Tumor Center is currently recruiting a highly motivated and driven research technologist II (B.S. or M.S.) to join our preclinical team focusing on cutting edge Phase 0/II clinical trials for glioblastoma at Barrow Neurological Institute. This entry-level role is ideal for candidates with foundational experience in molecular biology and cell-based assays who are eager to grow their skills in a fast-paced translational research environment. The Technologist I will work under supervision to execute established experimental protocols and support ongoing in vivo and in vitro studies.

 

The Ivy Brain Tumor Center is a non-conventional non-profit program offering state-of-the-art clinical trials for patients with the most aggressive form of brain cancer. It is home to the largest collection of Phase 0 trials for brain tumors in the world. Our multidisciplinary team of brain tumor specialists and scientists are accelerating drug discovery and precision medicine in neuro-oncology to identify the most promising first-in-class therapies for brain tumor patients.

 

Principal duties and responsibilities:

• Perform routine molecular biology and biochemistry experiments including DNA/RNA/protein isolation PCR qPCR Western blot and immunocytochemistry (ICC).

• Execute cell-based assays and support biomarker analysis. 

• Culture maintain and process patient-derived cell lines.

• Assist with in vivo and in vitro preclinical studies following established protocols.

• Accurately document experimental procedures results and observations in lab records and databases.

• Maintain organized tracking of experiments and ensure data integrity.

• Assist with sample processing reagent preparation and general laboratory support tasks.

• Participate in lab meetings seminars and journal clubs.

• Follow all laboratory safety compliance and regulatory guidelines.

 

 

Job Requirements

Required

  • Bachelors degree in a science field
  • Experience in a research laboratory or equivalent

Preferred

  • Experience as an intern or student research technician
