Job Summary and Responsibilities

As our Nuclear Medicine Technologist, you will be a specialized healthcare professional, vital in providing diagnostic and therapeutic services through the precise application of radionuclides.Every day, you will expertly perform Nuclear Medicine procedures, utilizing radionuclides to produce high-quality images and data for licensed practitioners. You'll ensure appropriate patient care, recognize conditions essential for successful procedures, administer radiopharmaceuticals, operate equipment, and adhere to strict radiation safety.To be successful in this role demands current certification, advanced technical expertise, and an exceptional eye for detail, coupled with a thorough understanding of radiation safety. Your compassionate patient care and dedication to precise imaging will be essential.

  • Utilizes innovative customer service techniques to provide a positive patient care experience for the patient and their family.
  • Acts professionally in all dealings with internal and external customers to promote a working environment that focuses on the patient experience and not operational rivalries or roadblocks to care. Establishes and maintains lines of communication with all other staff members and radiologists to ensure an effective and harmonious working environment. Communicates effectively with patients and their families about the procedure to be performed in order to obtain information and to offer reassurance.
  • Coordinate and participate in a variety of technical procedures to include in vivo and in vitro studies; operate radiation detection and measurement instrumentation including stationary imaging devices, scintillation gamma and apparatus for in vitro counting.
  • Calibrate and draw up radiopharmaceutical materials for administration to patients; formulate radiopharmaceutical materials from pre-prepared kits. Calibrate instruments and review calibration data to detect trends indicating instrument malfunction. Calculate data to include results of patient studies and radioactive decay. Evaluate recorded images for technical quality.
  • Process computerized image data to include function curves and reconstructed SPECT images.
  • Perform Nuclear Cardiology studies including image acquisition, processing and monitoring patient vital signs. Perform EKG prep, tracing and monitors for obvious change during cardiac studies. Assist in a quality assurance program relating to calibration and maintenance of equipment. Assist with education and training.
  • Assists in the development and evaluation of new procedures and techniques to meet the needs of specific protocols as required.  Consult with physicians concerning the application of nuclear medicine procedures and techniques.
  • May rotate shifts or be in an “on call” status as needed or directed by the organization.

Job Requirements

Required

  • Completion of an accredited nuclear medicine technology program, upon hire or
  • Medical Radiographer: TX, upon hire and
  • Certified Nuclear Medicine Technologist, upon hire or
  • Registered Technologist Nuclear Medicine Technology, upon hire and
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification issued by the American Heart Association, upon hire
