Job Summary and Responsibilities

As a Paramedic, you will provide advanced emergency medical care and transport to critically ill or injured patients in pre-hospital and inter-facility settings.Every day you will rapidly assess scenes, evaluate conditions, and administer life-saving interventions, while safely operating emergency vehicles and documenting care.To be successful, you will demonstrate expert clinical skills, exceptional critical thinking under stress, and compassionate communication, ensuring optimal patient outcomes.
  • Personal, crew, patient and bystander's safety: scene size up, emergency scenes are dynamic events; the paramedic should always look out first for their safety and then the safety of others.
  • Patient Assessment and delivery of care: provides patient care functions according to protocol, procedure and written directives to level of certification. Performs a patient assessment throughout a call on every patient encountered, providing appropriate treatment and transportation decisions within the P2 scope of practice.
  • a. Synchronized cardioversion
  • b. Medication administration of: Ancef, Dopamine, Etomidate, Fentanyl, Heparin, Labetalol, Metoprolol, Levophed, Phenergan, Rocuronium, Versed.
  • c. MICU transports
  • d. Rapid Sequence Induction (RSI)

Job Requirements

Required
  • High School Graduate, upon hire or
  • High School GED, upon hire and
  • At least two years continuous experience with St. Joseph, upon hire
  • Emergency Medical Technician Paramedic: TX, upon hire and
  • Driver's License: TX, upon hire and
  • Basic Life Support - CPR, within 14 - days
