About this role

Overview

Cotiviti is seeking a forward-thinking Technical Architect to join the team. This is a high-impact, hands-on leadership role responsible for defining and governing the end-to-end technical architecture of a mission-critical Commercial & CMS audit platform β€” while simultaneously driving the platform’s AI-native transformation.

Β

The ideal candidate brings deep enterprise architecture expertise, proven experience embedding AI and LLM capabilities directly into production software workflows, and the ability to lead, mentor, and elevate a cross-functional engineering team. You will own architectural decisions across Angular, ASP.NET/C#, Java, SQL Server, Teradata, and AWS β€” and spearhead an AI initiative designed to reduce auditor review time, improve documentation consistency, and unlock new levels of productivity across CMS audit operations.

Responsibilities

Architecture & Design

  • Define and maintain the overall technical architecture for applications, platforms, or enterprise systems.
  • Evaluate business requirements and translate them into robust, scalable, and secure technical solutions.
  • Author and maintain Architecture Decision Records (ADRs) for all major design choices.
  • Conduct design reviews, assess risks, and provide recommendations to leadership.Β

AI-Native Development Leadership

  • Architect AI feedback loops where auditor accept/reject signals retrain and improve model relevance scoring over time.
  • Implement AI governance frameworks β€” explainability, confidence scoring, human-in-the-loop controls, audit trail β€” for all AI outputs influencing CMS audit findings.
  • Champion AI-assisted SDLC adoption across Team Unstoppable: Claude Code, GitHub Copilot, Cursor, Windsurf, and similar tooling.
  • Establish engineering productivity baselines and measure quantifiable AI-driven velocity improvements.
  • Run structured AI PoC programs that translate into shipped production features β€” not slide decks.

Leadership & Communication

  • Proven experience leading, mentoring, and elevating teams of 8–15 engineers across mixed experience levels.
  • Demonstrated ability to translate complex architectural decisions into clear communication for non-technical stakeholders.
  • Experience producing Architecture Decision Records (ADRs), component diagrams, data flow maps, and integration specifications.
  • Strong cross-functional collaboration skills across product, operations, security, and compliance teams.

Collaboration & Communication

  • Partner with product managers, business analysts, and other stakeholders to ensure solutions meet both functional and non-functional requirements.
  • Work with project managers to align timelines, risks, and dependencies.
  • Communicate complex technical concepts clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences.Β

Quality & Governance

  • Define coding standards, patterns, and best practices to improve maintainability and reliability.
  • Conduct performance reviews, security assessments, and compliance checks.
  • Stay updated with emerging technologies, evaluating their potential impact on the organization.

This job description does not constitute an employment agreement and is subject to change as the needs of Cotiviti and the requirements of the job change.

Qualifications

  • 12+ years of progressive software engineering experience with at least 4 years in an architect or technical lead role.
  • Proven delivery of large-scale enterprise platform architecture decisions across full stack (UI, API, data, cloud).
  • Deep expertise in microservices architecture patterns β€” event-driven, API-first, DDD, CQRS, strangler fig modernization.
  • Strong data architecture skills across relational databases, analytical warehouses, and cloud data pipelines.
  • Hands-on experience with cloud platforms (AWS preferred) including compute, storage, data, and security services.
  • Experience establishing and governing API design standards, testing practices, and CI/CD pipeline architecture.
  • Proven track record of leading legacy-to-modern migration programs without disrupting production operations.

Mental Requirements:

  • Critical Thinking: Ability to think critically and evaluate information objectively, considering different perspectives and potential implications before drawing conclusions or making recommendations.
  • Attention to Detail: must have a keen eye for detail to ensure accuracy in data analysis, interpretation, and reporting.
  • Quantitative Aptitude: Strong numerical skills are essential for conducting quantitative analysis, working with statistical methods and models, and manipulating data using mathematical operations.
  • Data Interpretation: skilled in interpreting data visualizations, charts, graphs, and other forms of data presentation to extract meaningful insights and communicate findings effectively.
  • Communication Skills: Effective communication skills are crucial for conveying complex technical concepts and insights to non-technical stakeholders clearly and understandably through written reports, presentations, and verbal discussions.
  • Curiosity and Learning Agility: A strong desire to learn and explore new methodologies, techniques, and tools in the field of data analysis and insights generation is essential for staying current with industry trends and best practices.
  • Resilience: The ability to handle pressure, adapt to changing priorities, and overcome setbacks is important in a fast-paced and sometimes ambiguous analytical environment.
  • Ethical and Integrity: Upholding ethical standards and maintaining integrity in handling sensitive data and information is paramount for building trust and credibility in the insights provided.

Physical Requirements and Working Conditions:

  • Repeating motions that may include the wrists, hands, and/or fingers.
  • Must be able to provide a dedicated, secure work area.

  • No adverse environmental conditions expected.
