About the role:

We're looking for a Backend-Focused Software Engineer with a product engineering mindset - someone who gets satisfaction from building reliable, scalable systems that power real products people use every day. You'll work across APIs, microservices, and cloud infrastructure, and collaborate closely with product, design, and engineering to ship things that matter.

What you'll do

  • Build and maintain scalable backend systems and services in C# (.NET)

  • Develop and document APIs, working with API gateways and following best practices

  • Integrate and optimise RESTful APIs and event-driven microservices

  • Design for observability using tools like Dynatrace and other monitoring solutions

  • Ensure auditability and traceability across the systems you work on

  • Collaborate within an agile, product-focused team alongside product owners, designers, and engineers

  • Contribute to integrating AI features and agentic systems, including MCP principles

  • Participate in architectural discussions and help drive backend scalability and maintainability

  • Write high-quality, maintainable code with a strong eye on security and reliability

What you'll bring

  • 3+ years of backend development experience with C# and .NET

  • Hands-on experience building, documenting, and supporting APIs and API gateways

  • Familiarity with observability tooling such as Dynatrace, and an understanding of audit and traceability standards

  • Experience with Azure or comparable cloud platforms

  • A product engineering mindset - you think about the business problem, not just the technical one

  • Strong testing instincts and a commitment to quality and secure delivery

  • Any exposure to AI development, agentic architectures or MCP is a genuine bonus

  • Curious, self-driven, and someone who enjoys reading and learning beyond the day job

Key benefits:

  • Collaborative teams – a flat structure means everyone can learn from colleagues and senior leaders around the business.

  • Be involved – come together with all of your colleagues every 100 days to share the product and technology roadmap and business strategy.

  • Flexible working environment – we’re headquartered in North Sydney with state-based workplaces and offer a flexible work policy.

  • Family support – industry leading 26 weeks paid parental leave.

  • Purpose built spaces within our office – designed for collaboration, brainstorming, socialising, and focused work.

  • Range of benefits supporting your physical, psychological and financial wellbeing. From a day off on your birthday to excellent end of trip facilities.
