Position Overview:

 

Consilio is looking for a highly motivated individual that enjoys learning at a fast pace and doesn’t mind hard work.  There is always work to do, but you are rewarded with a great culture and a great opportunity to grow.  You will be required to work with a global team as a full-time Automation Engineer, with a heavy emphasis on Infrastructure and VMWare Aria or Ansible Automation.  Individuals well-suited for this position are those that specialize in the administration, design, development, and deployment of cross-functional automation systems. Strong collaborative and intrapersonal skills are preferred.

 

You will leverage modern practices and technologies to improve, streamline and automate existing workflows with the opportunity to help us deliver innovative solutions for the future. The products of this team are leveraged by a global team that operates 24x7.

Responsibilities

  • Effective communication. Whether working as a group or independently.
  • Constant learning of new technologies
  • Proactive administration and maintenance of managed systems.
  • Following a standard change control protocol.
  • Creation and maintenance of documentation that covers the lifecycle of such systems.
  • Lifecycle management of the various components used.
  • Prototype and research new concepts or technologies for use within automation.
  • Analyze and report on requirements in response to projects or tasks assigned to the team.
  • Implementing new components and/or scripts for use within our automation platform.
  • Project, task, and ticket management.
  • Train members of the team, and of other teams, on technologies used by automation.
  • Provide meaningful assistance with any other assigned duties that may arise.

Qualifications

What you bring to the table (Requirements):

  • BA/BS degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, Engineering, or equivalent degree/experience.
  • Demonstrated understanding of complex problem-solving techniques.
  • 5+ years of automation experience in Ansible OR Aria Automation (used to be called VRO) or platforms such as Chef, Puppet, Terraform, Salt Stack/Salt Config, Catalog, Cloud Assembly, Orchestrator, Service Broker, or others.
  • Strong understanding for enterprise class infrastructure
  • Preference for those with mid to enterprise scale data center topologies.
  • Advanced scripting proficiency - Preferred languages may include PowerShell, Python, Javascript, and or Bash.
  • Experience with VMWare PowerCLI for mission critical and/or long-running workflows.
  • Reasonable understanding of VMWare specific concepts such as
    • Clusters, DRS, Distributed Switches, Policies, SDDC, vROPs, vMotion, and Container Volumes.
  • Reasonable understanding of cloud platforms, Azure, AWS, but also Containers and Kubernetes fundamentals
  • 3+ years of knowledge in the following areas / concepts: 
    • Installing, configuring, troubleshooting, and performing maintenance of Linux Distributions and MS Window server products (MS Windows 2012 and higher)
    • Active Directory computer/user objects, DHCP, DNS, DHCP, group polices, and permissions. 
    • Enterprise storage systems, including, but not limited to, NFS, iSCSI, Fiber Channel, SMB
    • Data center operations for non-cloud/on-premise server installations
  • Moderate experience in common ticketing platforms such as Service Desk or Service Now.

 

It would be even better if you had:

  • Working knowledge of cloud platforms, Azure, AWS but also Containers and Kubernetes Fundamentals
  • Advanced VMWare platform experience with long running workflows through Aria/VRO
  • Aria experience building workflow automations.
  • Advanced knowledge of general operating and storage systems (Windows/Linux NetApp/Pure)
