Maintenance Mechanic L4

Overview

This position’s primary objective is to reduce maintenance costs and improve equipment reliability through the implementation of a predictive maintenance and inspections programs. To insure that all plant equipment and facilities are inspected, maintained and repaired on a timely and cost-effective basis. The incumbent shall be highly concerned for the safety of him/her self and co-workers and follow all safety rules procedures and processes.

Responsibilities

• To serve as a role model in the areas of leadership, teamwork, customer focus, continuous improvement, safety and environmental stewardship to ensure alignment with the company’s vision.
• Must demonstrate the ability to align couplings and sprockets utilizing the proper tools, laser or dial indicators. Must be able to distinguish types of bearings and demonstrate ability to properly remove and replace them.
• Should be able to properly use all types of measuring devices such as micrometers and dial indicators.
• Must demonstrate ability to properly and safely use Oxygen/Acetylene equipment.
•  Should have knowledge of general conveyor belt maintenance such as mechanical splices, aligning and adjusting belts.
• Be familiar with different types of welding equipment and be able to properly use. (Welder test required).
• Be able to identify different type of metal.
• Must demonstrate ability to properly and safely operate.
• Forklifts, Bobcats Overhead cranes/hoists Man lift
• Should be familiar with different lubrications requirements of plant equipment.
• Demonstrate a good understanding on rigging.

• Interprets and works from prints and technical instructions.
• Furnishes and uses own complement of hand tools, company tools and equipment.
• Inspects tests and aligns testing equipment throughout the plant.
• Maintains the machines and equipment in efficient operating, condition, performs duties such as, dismantling, moving, installing, commissioning, adjusting or repairing machines, power shafting, pulleys, conveyors, hoists, and other equipment; uses hoist dollies, rollers, tracks, and cranes (overhead and mobile),to aid in moving machinery, uses wrenches, hammers, and other hand tools in erecting or dismantling machines, and installing new or repair parts, uses measuring devices, such as squares, in installing the machine and equipment in correct positions, and aligning power shafting and pulleys.
• Ability to use 2 way radio communications effectively and in a professional manner.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent from accredited institution is required
• Able to work different extended hours, holidays and/or overtime as required
• Speak, read, write and understand English
• Ability to work independently, without constant supervision
• Able to work inside and outside in year-round weather conditions
• In good physical condition, able to lift and carry up to 50 lbs., sit and stand for extended periods of time, kneel, climb ladders and walk on mixed terrain and in confined spaces
