Job Description
As an Human Resources (HR) Specialist at CoBank, you will coordinate and administer a broad range of HR activities spanning the full employee lifecycle—from hire to retire. This role provides day-to-day operational support across core HR processes, ensuring accuracy, consistency, and a high-quality associate experience. The HR Specialist serves as a main point of contact for routine HR inquiries, supports system updates (e.g., organizational changes), and contributes to the effective execution of key HR programs and processes. This role plays a critical part in executing HR operations, including workflow processing, data reporting and management, and support for a variety of HR initiatives, while ensuring alignment with compliance requirements. While aligned to the HR Business Partner organization, the HR Specialist partners closely across all HR functions—including Employee Relations, Compensation, Learning & Development, Benefits, Leave, Payroll, and Recruiting. Operating within a "One HR Team" mindset, this role is essential to delivering integrated, seamless HR support across the organization.
Essential Functions
- HR Operations & Data Management:
- Processes and maintains accurate HR data transactions (e.g., supervisor changes, job changes, organizational updates) in HR systems (e.g., Dayforce)
- Ensures data integrity and alignment across systems, processes, and reporting
- Tracks and monitors completion of HR transactions and escalate discrepancies
- Associate & Manager Support
- Acts as point of contact for associates and managers on routine HR questions (policies, processes, systems navigation)
- Provides timely, accurate responses and escalate more complex issues to HRBPs, ER, or COEs as appropriate
- Delivers a positive, service-oriented experience while reinforcing HR policies and consistency
- Program Coordination & Execution:
- Supports the execution of core HR programs (e.g., performance cycles, onboarding, engagement surveys)
- Coordinates logistics, tracks participation, and follows up on required actions
- Maintains program documentation, timelines, and communications
- HR Process Support:
- Assists in documenting standard operating procedures and process flows
- Identifies opportunities to improve efficiency, reduce manual work, and enhance the associate experience
- Partners with HR team members to implement process updates
- Collaboration & Team Support:
- Partners closely with HRBPs, Talent Advisors, ER, and other COEs to support cross-functional work
- Contributes to team deliverables and support broader HR initiatives as needed
Education
- Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration, Human Resources, or related field (or equivalent experience) required
- Bachelor's degree may be substituted with related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and related experience.
Work Experience
- 1 year of HR, HR Operations or other HR COE experience. preferred
- Strong attention to detail and ability to manage transactional work with accuracy
- SHRM-CP preferred
- Prior experience working with HRIS and other HR systems preferred
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines
- Ability to prioritize tasks, manage multiple priorities and follow through on tasks
- Ability to act with integrity, professionalism, and confidentiality.
- Excellent organizational skills, resourceful mindset
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software
Physical Exertion Details

About CoBank
The typical base pay range for this role is between $58,100 - $66,500. Compensation may vary based on individual job-related knowledge, skills, expertise, and experience. This position is eligible for a discretionary annual incentive program driven by organization and individual performance.
