About this role

Overview

This position will work closely with other members of the Legal and Compliance Department and across the organization to provide legal services, including with respect to complex and routine commercial contracts, compliance, and other duties. This position reports to the Assistant General Counsel and has varying responsibilities working with internal and external parties.

Responsibilities

  • Draft, review, revise, and negotiate customer contracts, vendor agreements, technology licenses, and other agreements
  • Assist with the development and administration of various contract policies, templates, and processes
  • Work with business leaders to develop or enhance legal strategies around areas such as product development and expansion, risk management, intellectual property, and geographic expansion
  • Assist with the preparation of RFP, data, and compliance request responses
  • Apply effective risk management techniques and offer proactive, pragmatic advice
  • Work with outside counsel, external stakeholders, and service providers
  • Provide clarification on legal language or specifications

Pay range depending on experience: $119,700 -  $130,000, plus bonus potential

Qualifications

  • Extensive experience drafting and negotiating complex commercial agreements
  • Familiarity with the payments industry and privacy laws, particularly as they apply to personally identifiable information, and information security is a plus
  • Excellent knowledge and understanding of commercial law and procedures
  • High degree of professional ethics and integrity
  • Superior writing and communication skills; strong attention to detail
  • Proven experience as a legal counsel in business setting, able to gain the confidence and trust of internal and external stakeholders
  • Ability to proactively identify and solve complex problems and to think strategically and beyond existing solutions and frameworks
  • Ability to work collaboratively, cross-functionally and with diverse teams; ability to clearly articulate and present complex advice to executives, other employees, and external constituencies
  • Positive, team-oriented approach to the task at hand
  • Ability to work independently, with the judgment to know when to raise concerns to others in the organization

 

Requirements:

 

  • Juris Doctorate degree from a top tier law school
  • Licensed to practice law, preferably in Colorado
  • A minimum of three to five years of progressive experience as a transactional attorney, ideally with at least one year as in-house counsel or firm; broad, mid-sized company commercial experience preferred

 

Physical Requirements:

 

  • This position will work remotely, with ability to work in the corporate office from time to time. Office environment may include periodic exposure to production facility moderate noise areas.
  • While performing duties of job, employee is occasionally required to stand, walk, sit, use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls, reach with hands and arms, and talk and hear. Employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
  • Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to focus.
