Short Description

Under direct supervision of Plant Operations Director, responsible for repair, maintenance, care of hospital grounds, parking areas, all outside equipment, and for maintaining accesses to the hospital clear and clean at all times.  Assists mechanics in all phases of general building maintenance as needed.  All work and related duties are to be performed to compliance with local and state codes.  Incumbents are subject to overtime and callback as required by hospital.

Experience Required

Must have basic knowledge of grounds care, trees and outside equipment normally acquired through completion of technical high school courses and/or vocational school courses or appropriate experience in grounds maintenance.  Knowledge of local, state and national regulations regarding application of fertilizers and pesticides, etc.    General knowledge of grounds care and outside construction and equipment as normally acquired through three (3) years of related experience.  Previous general maintenance experience preferred.  Ability to move or lift tools and equipment in excess of 100 pounds on an occasional basis; frequent walking, sitting, climbing, bending and stooping.  Exposure to outdoor weather conditions for extended periods of time.

Education Requirements

High school graduate or equivalent.

License/Certification Requirements

Valid New Jersey Driver’s License required.
