Responsibilities

  • Performs basic instrumentation and control system engineering tasks and calculations for water and wastewater treatment facilities under the direction and supervision of a Staff Instrumentation Engineer
  • Assists in the development of P&ID's and associated I/O
  • P&ID database manipulation
  • Performs basic CADD drafting
  • Submittal review
  • Performs specification research
  • Assists in development of portions of technical memorandums and specification research
  • Works a part of a team on design projects
  • Assists in control systems designs and in the development of control system networks
  • Reviews work for discrepancies or inconsistencies
  • Tracks details of work to discuss and resolve
  • Develops and improves technical knowledge and skills
  • Maintains professionalism in relationships with other office and team members
  • Plans what needs to be communicated and how to present the information effectively
  • Seeks out company and client technical standards and implements them on projects
  • Constructively builds and maintains relationships with others on the project design team
  • Travel required when requested
  • Makes site visits to observe during construction and operation

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering; Instrumentation and Control Engineering; Mechanical Engineering or Chemical Engineering
  • 0-4 years experience
  • Experience in start-up of instrumentation and control systems for water and wastewater facilities
  • Experience in conduction and observing loop checks
  • EIT or FE license - or will obtain in 1 year after employmen
  • Basic understanding of the National Electrical Code
  • Ability to read and understand P&ID's
  • Working knowledge of communications networks
  • Ability to read and understand Control Schematics
  • Ability to work as part of a project team consisting of senior level staff, CADD technicians, and field inspectors
  • Ability to work with supervisor to effectively complete routine tasks
  • Capable of breaking a task into one or more component parts and sequencing those parts effectively
  • General awareness of need for practicality and constructability of design solutions
  • General awareness of the scope, schedule and budget assigned for engineering tasks
  • Ability to work with more experienced instrumentation and control engineers to apply standard textbook instrumentation and control design and analysis approach
  • Follows selected design approach through completion of analysis and detailing
  • Logically organizes work
  • Ability to listen to others and ask clarifying questions at appropriate time
  • Willingness to accept suggestions and corrections on organization and planning issues
  • Seeks help to understand and productively work through conflict to keep tasks moving ahead
  • Understanding that personal performance and actions impact future work opportunities
  • General awareness of the "business" of instrumentation and control engineering as well as the technical design issues
  • Strong verbal and written communications skills that are well organized and persuasive
  • Highly motivated self-starter with the ability to learn quickly
  • Proficient in MS Word and Excel
  • Experience with Microsoft Access

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering; Instrumentation and Control Engineering; Mechanical Engineering or Chemical Engineering
  • Public speaking experience
  • Experience with Microstation or Autocad

Compensation Range

We may ultimately pay more or less than the posted range, and the range may be modified in the future. An employee’s pay within the salary range will be based on several factors including, but limited to, relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, seniority, geographic location, performance, and business or organizational needs.
