Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Undertaking the planning, analysis, permitting, design, and inspection of waterfront and coastal development and marina projects, shoreline protection, beaches, dredging, and related projects.
  • Generating and recognizing cost-effective and constructible technical solutions to engineering challenges
  • Writing feasibility studies, technical reports, and construction specifications
  • Managing the production of engineering plans and drawings
  • Performing engineering calculations (including numerical model applications) and critical reviews of technical reports
  • Inspecting onsite works during construction phases for waterfront development and coastal resiliency projects
  • Managing project budgets, resources, and quality of production
  • Attending and conducting meetings with clients and regulatory authorities
  • Develop proposals in response to RFPs, including build-up of project budgets, programs, and scopes of work
  • Interfacing and communicating with clients and prospective clients
  • Training: We also offer professional development opportunities including in-house seminars, webinars, and mentoring, that allow our professionals to build the technical and business skills necessary to become successful consultants.
  • Fieldwork and Overnight travel: within the US and Caribbean up to 20%
  • Drive personal, company, and rental vehicles to client or company project or office sites, and other business locations, as needed.

Education and Licensure

  • Bachelor's degree in coastal/ocean engineering, civil engineering, coastal science, or closely related field (required)
  • Master's degree in engineering, business, or related field. (preferred)
  • Professional Engineer (PE). (preferred)

Skills, Experience and Qualifications

  • At least 5 years of experience (7+years preferred) in the engineering field; or equivalent combination of education and experience. (required)
  • Outstanding communication skills, with a specific focus on business/technical writing.(required)
  • Ability to work independently and in a team setting. (required)
  • Experience using AutoCAD (preferred).
  • Numerical Modeling experience (preferred).
  • Background is FEMA Flood Mapping and Coastal Resiliency (preferred)
  • General knowledge of surveying and surveying principles. (preferred)
  • Regular fieldwork and overnight travel (US and Caribbean). (required)
  • Health & Safety training, medical monitoring, and client-driven drug and background testing may be required.
  • Valid U.S. driver’s license and a satisfactory driving record for business travel. (required)
  • Boating experience (preferred)
