About this role

Overview

This job has multiple primary responsibilities monitoring, evaluating, troubleshooting, and reporting Electric Boat business system data to assist management in improving organizational performance, resource planning, quality, and communication of functional metrics. The position will involve supporting engineering personnel involved in the design, construction, inspection, test and installation of the COLUMBIA Class missile tube and support equipment. The position also includes facilitating meetings, making presentations, and independently providing performance reports at both the department and directorate level.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Lead a Missile Tube Supplier Non-Conformance Reduction Effort
  • Work with engineering, program office, purchasing, operations, and the missile to suppliers in an effort to reduce the volume of non-conformances made at the suppliers. This effort will require the person to assess previously received non-conformances, understand root cause, and identify methods to enable a reduction. This will include identifying places where suppliers need to undertake root cause and corrective action assessments, areas where the supplier requires additional training, areas where drawing tolerances can be relaxed, opportunities for contract requirement changes to incentivize first time quality, etc.
  • Support of Engineering Product Development
  • Perform discrete tasks at the direction of engineering supervision and manager as necessary to support product development, to assess magnitude of impact due to emergent problems, and to carry out corrective actions

Propose / evaluate opportunities for process improvements to increase engineering through-put of technical dispositions either through improved construction for problem mitigation or improved efficiency of problem solving.

  • Monitor and report performance against established program metrics
  • Earned Value Management System and Financial Analysis
  • Review and analyze cost and schedule metrics to identify trends and performance problems, present findings/recommendations at variance meetings, track actions for correction of performance problems
  • Compile directorate/manager/supervisor level dashboards of discrete performance measures
  • Process/monitor baseline change requests and labor transfers
  • Develop, submit and monitor overhead budgets
  • Meeting Facilitation and Management
  • Develop and maintain meeting data spreadsheets and management tools
  • Chair status meeting with supervisors/managers to review product development and progressing
  • Monitor and report performance against established program metrics
  • Resource Planning
  • Use scheduling and planning tools to analyze current and future work in order to develop plan to ensure adequate resources
  • Make recommendations to management for staffing levels and hiring goals

 Monitor and report on hiring and attrition information in support of meeting staffing goals

Qualifications

Required:

 

  • Bachelor's in finance, business or related
  • Ability to manage data and create reports from various database systems
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, and Word
  • Ability to obtain Secret security clearance

 

Preferred:

  • 2+ years of project/program management experience
  • Experience with Electric Boat business tools: Oracle, ARTEMIS, SPARS, MRPII, AMPS, Teamcenter
  • Familiarity with Electric Boat business processes related to Contracts, Finance, Cost Estimation, and/or Planning
  • Active Secret clearance or higher

Skills

  • Must possess excellent verbal and written communication skills and the ability to deal effectively with people at all levels
  • Must have strong administrative and organizational skills with the ability to work with limited oversight, set priorities and handle multiple tasks, exercise professional judgment/discretion in executing tasks and maintain a high level of confidentiality
  • Working knowledge of EB’s EVMS and demonstrated ability to compile cost and schedule performance reports
  • Ability to work flexible hours and adapt priorities as required to support emergent issues / department needs
  • Willingness to learn new methods, tools, and processes
