Summary
SUMMARY: The Senior Writer provides high-level writing, editing, and research support for complex correspondence management tasks within the IHS Office of Executive Secretariat Staff (ExecSec) under the Office of the IHS Director.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Researches, organizes, writes, edits, and produces final products for a wide variety of complex documentation.
- Recommends overall organization, layout, editorial standards, and information relevance for correspondence.
- Coordinates documents with internal and external stakeholders to ensure accuracy and consistency.
- Interviews subject-matter experts and leadership personnel to develop or confirm content requirements.
- Prepares draft replies for review and approval by designated officials.
SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS:
- Meticulous attention to detail to ensure adherence to HHS, IHS, and Federal Government guidelines.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, SharePoint online, Adobe, MS Teams, OneDrive, and internal tracking systems (ATS).
- Ability to maintain strict confidentiality and handle sensitive information without breaches of HIPAA or the Privacy Act.
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:
- Education: Bachelor’s Degree.
- Experience: Minimum of four (4) years of related experience.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY: None specified; services are non-personal.
WORK ENVIRONMENT: IHS Office of Executive Secretariat Staff under the Office of the IHS Director.
ROLE and LOCATION SPECIFIC FUNCTIONS: Services support the IHS Office of the Director (OD), all IHS Area Offices, and Headquarters (HQ) Offices.
POSITION TYPE/EXPECTED HOURS OF WORK: Full-time; assigned resources must be available for a minimum of 40 hours per week during core hours of 9:00 AM – 5:30 PM EST.
TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS: Not explicitly required, though pricing must include any applicable travel costs.
CLEARANCE/LICENSE REQUIREMENTS: Must undergo a criminal background check and character investigation in accordance with the Crime Control Act and the Indian Child Protection and Family Violence Act.
