Job Description

Dewberry is currently seeking a Senior Professional Land Surveyor/Survey Project Manager for our Richmond, VA office to provide professional oversight and management for title surveying services, focusing on and specializing in Boundary/ALTA Surveys, record plats, zoning exhibits, and writing legal descriptions. Applicant must be responsible, highly motivated, detail oriented with proven experience and demonstrated track record in boundary determinations, following local zoning ordinances, coordinating with title companies and attorneys in the Central Virginia region. Must have excellent oral and written communication skills. The selected individual must be committed to advancing the goals of our Land Surveying / Engineering team and overall surveying, design and consulting practices. Applicant must be able to work in a fast paced environment, manage multiple projects, engage in daily coordination with Survey Manager, Engineering Manager, key office staff, clients, prepare proposals and be successful in supporting business development and managing personnel who perform relevant support roles on specific project assignments.

Responsibilities

  • Manage and coordinate projects with multiple team members.
  • Consult with clients.
  • Strengthen the vision of Virginia survey operations by partnering with our leadership team to provide direction and guidance to the Gainesville/Richmond survey office.
  • Collaborate proactively and productively with other groups and offices across the Mid-Atlantic operating unit. 
  • Oversee survey aspects of civil engineering projects and/or direct preparation of all types of survey plans.
  • Train field staff in land surveying procedures.
  • Monitor project schedules, budgets & deliverables.
  • Prepare proposals and contracts
  • Prepare Easement plast, Study Maps, Boundary Surveys, and ALTAs. 
  • Prepare route studies, perform courthouse research and deed anaysis. 
  • CAD oversight and quality assurance.
  • Perform survey computations, data collection, and cut sheet generation.

Required Skills & Required Experience

  • Registered Professional Land Surveyor in Virginia or ability to obtain Virginia PLS within six months.
  • A minimum of 10 years of professional experience in all aspects of land surveying, including project management experience.
  • AAS or BS Degree in Surveying is preferred
  • LSIT required.
  • A successful track record of building client relationships in the surveying and related mapping industry.
  • Effective team building skills.
  • Experience with transportation and utility infrastructure projects is strongly preferred.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, including report writing.
  • Experienced in all aspects of Land Surveying (Land Development a plus).
  • Perform Boundary Surveys & ALTA/ACSM Land Title Surveys & As-built plans.
  • Data reduction and processing of field files, topographic surveys, etc.
  • Knowledge of Trimble Business Center (GPS processing) and AutoCAD Civil 3D software a plus.
  • Have the ability to work out of town if required, flexible with work area.
  • Must have a clean driving record and be able to maintain a valid driver’s license in order to operate company vehicle.
  • Must be able to pass drug/alcohol screening.

Salary Range

The projected range for this position is $88,000-$113,000 annually. Depending upon other factors, i.e., skills, experience, location, market conditions, the range may vary slightly.
