Job Description

Dewberry has an opening for Drinking Water Operator experienced in drinking water facilities and operation supporting projects Nationwide. Preferred candidates will have experience in disaster response related to drinking water problems post-event. The Drinking Water Operator will perform labor related to repair and installation of drinking water facilities, sources, mainlines, and service connections. Must be capable of troubleshooting malfunctioning equipment and making simple repairs. 

 

*Please note, remote work is not permitted for this role. This is a non‑full‑time, deployment‑based on-call position across the United States. Team members are deployed to impacted sites as needed and may travel frequently on short notice. While the role requires physical presence at various disaster locations, it is not tied to a single office or fixed worksite.

Responsibilities

  • Perform labor related to repair and installation of drinking water facilities 
  • Use industry best practices for drinking water equipment installation and repair 
  • Operate testing or processing equipment of moderate complexity, and construct components or subassemblies 
  • Trouble shoot malfunctioning equipment and make simple repairs 
  • Any other duties assigned by management 

Required Skills & Required Experience

  • High School or trade school diploma is required, an associate degree in a related field is preferred; At least one year of experience in the water and/or wastewater treatment facility operation and maintenance; or any equivalent combination of education and experience. 
  • Meet certification requirements to obtain certified drinking water operator licenses, Level will be defined on each Task Order 
  • Ability to obtain Level 1-4 treatment operator license 
  • Ability to obtain Level 1-4 distribution operator license 
  • Must have a good driving record. 
  • Working knowledge of the principles, procedures, methods, equipment, materials, and tools employed in the operation' and maintenance of the water and wastewater treatment, collection and distribution systems. 
  • Thorough knowledge of the hazards and safety precautions involved in water and wastewater treatment work. 
  • Must be able to lift or move up to 50 pounds on a regular basis. 
  • Knowledge of computer applications. 
  • Ability to read, interpret, and apply instructions, drawings and specifications for work assigned. 
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with superiors, other personnel, and the general public. 
  • Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
