About this role

Overview

The Nurse Practitioner provides direct comprehensive interdisciplinary patient care and evidence based practice including obtaining comprehensive patient histories, performing complete physical examination, ordering and interpreting diagnostic testing and screening, diagnosing illness, prescribing both pharmacological and other treatments for patients, works in collaboration with the Hospice team to provide hospital services and provides health maintenance and quality of life promotion interventions such as patient and family education and counseling. Also, the NP assumes accountability for indirect care responsibilities, which support patient care including staff and student education, clinical research, program development, and quality improvement.

Qualifications

Minimum Knowledge, Skills, Experience Required:Education: Successful completion of Nurse Practitioner Program/Masters of Science in Nursing from an accredited college or university required.

 

License, Certification and/or Registration: Successful completion of a National Certification Exam for NP; Current Alabama NP License through the Alabama Board of Nursing; Must maintain a current Alabama Driver’s License and automobile liability insurance; BLS required before the conclusion of the orientation period

Experience: Minimum of 2 years experience as a CRNP; Hospice experience preferred

Additional Skills/Abilities: Must have excellent communication skills with the ability to work independently in a fast paced environment, requiring prioritizing and changing tasks frequently and quickly; Must have knowledge of LCD's, the Hospice benefit and continued education; Department specific competencies must be completed within provisional period and maintained current
