Position Overview:

The successful candidate will use the required skills to assist the supervisor and manager in running the production department

Responsibilities

  • Perform Assembly Lead-Person duties and responsibilities for multiple production lines, having a thorough and in depth working knowledge of the same.
  • Identify aptitude and skills strengths of individual employees and position employees on jobs to achieve or exceed established production standards.
  • Must have good cell balance aptitude and demonstrate ability to run production following the “standard work” and BOM in a “one piece flow” format.
  • Must audit parts (BOM) and process inputs to ensure quality and integrity of the product.
  • Must have very good problem solving skills and demonstrate ability to find solutions to quality, scrap, material handling and productivity issues.
  • Able to schedule and direct an entire supervisory assigned area in Supervisor’s absence.
  • Must demonstrate good judgment and decision making skills.
  • Develop and implement production method and cost reduction improvements. Must demonstrate ability to work with Manufacturing Engineers.
  • Must direct and maintain respect of employees and demonstrate ability to motivate people to perform at a high level.
  • Must ensure and maintain exceptionally high quality standards.
  • Must demonstrate mechanical ability and repair minor machine problems to minimize downtime.
  • Must instruct and train lead persons and material handlers in proper methods and procedures.
  • Must be knowledgeable with the AS400 for BOM, “standard work”, Inventory Control (inventory and material movement inquiry) functions, etc. and expert with all departmental documentation and operating procedures, including but not limited to printing labels, BOM and making transactions as necessary to maintain inventory accuracy.
  • Must maintain an exceptionally clean and safe workplace, reporting all safety hazards.
  • Must have a thorough understanding of the SQDC board.
  • Must be diligent and use the SQDC board to manage the cell.
  • Hour by hour chart.
  • Schedule Attainment
  • Must be able to measure and keep records on the line as necessary.
  • Must be able to do quality audits as necessary (Ratio checks, tester checks etc.) and maintain records as needed.
  • Must maintain a high level of understanding of lean practices and sustainment thereof.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Need to have the desire to coach and train within a team environment.
  • Ability to communicate effectively to operators and supervision.
  • The candidate should have strong product knowledge.
  • Ability to use department hand tools and machinery safely and understand their use and function.
  • Should be able to read prints as well be familiar with the tools to measure them.
  • Should understand general workings of a PC and be able to utilize Word and Excel programs. Should have strong knowledge of the AS400.
  • Excellent attendance is a requirement for this position.
  • The ability to communicate to all levels of the organization. Must exhibit good written as well as verbal skills.
  • Should be able to solve general math problems and understand percentages.
  • Ability to visualize, articulate and solve both complex and uncomplicated problems and concepts, and make decisions that make sense.
  • Change is a constant in the assembly department. The ability to understand, accept and embrace change is necessary for the development of the department.

 

Education and Experience:

High School diploma or GED preferred.  The ability to speak Spanish is a plus for this position.

 

Physical Requirements:

Must be able to perform all jobs on the production line. Must be able to use walkie stackers.

 

Work Environment:

While performing this job, the employee is occasionally exposed to fumes, dust and airborne particles.  The noise level is moderate to noisy.  Safety glasses and safety shoes are required while on the plant floor.
