About this role

Overview

The Pediatric Pain and Palliative Care Psychologist functions as a clinical psychologist under the supervision of the Supervisor Psychology, in accordance with the Ethical Principles of Psychologists and Code of Conduct of the American Psychological Association, guidelines from the New Jersey Board of Psychological Examiners, and standards set forth by the joint Commission. In general, the Psychologist independently diagnoses and treats mental disorders and aspects of psychological adjustment. The specific scope of practice will be articulated in the delineation of privileges as issued in the process of appointment to the Medical Staff.

This position offers a highly desirable weekday schedule with no on-call, weekend, or holiday obligations.

Responsibilities

1. Assumes the duties and responsibilities of a psychologist as prescribed by training and standards and delineated by the medical staff appointment. 2. Conducts diagnostic psychological/psychosocial evaluations and demonstrates knowledge and skills in the use and interpretation of assessment tools and subsequent integration into the formulation of a diagnostic impression. 3. Provides effective, evidence-based psychological interventions. 4. Functions as a consultant in the Department of Pediatrics. 5. Provides case management and coordination for patients and caregivers. Provides program services in accordance with HUMC policy and procedures, the Joint Commission, the American Psychological Association (APA) and the New Jersey Board of Psychological Examiners. 6. Maintains records and documentation of patient contact according to the laws of the State of New Jersey Works collaboratively with multi-disciplinary teams throughout HUMC, the HMH network, and the community. Provides crisis intervention and emergency services to patients as needed. 7. Serves as resource and liaison to community and governmental agencies. Participates in professional and community education conferences and seminars on related topics. 8. Identifies the needs of the patient population served and modifies and delivers care that is specific to those needs. 9. Adheres to the standards identified in the Medical Center's Organizational & Managerial Competencies. 10. Lifts a minimum of 10 lbs., pushes and pulls a minimum of 10 lbs. and stands a minimum of 1 hours a day.

Qualifications

Education, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required: 1. Earned Doctorate in Psychology, internship in clinical child, school psychology, adult clin

ical and/or pediatric psychology.

Education, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Preferred: 1. Post-doctoral training and/or experience in child maltreatment or forensic psychology.

Licenses and Certifications Required: 1. New Jersey or NJ eligible Practicing Psychologist License (PsyD or PhD) or Psychology One Year Permit or Psychology, Three Year Permit License.ย 

Starting Minimum Rate

Minimum rate of $113,609.60 Annually
