About this role

Overview

Kimley-Horn is seeking an experienced and dynamic Roadway Project Manager to join our talented team in Riverside, CA to design and manage transportation infrastructure projects. This role will focus on both highway projects adhering to Caltrans standards and municipal roadway improvements involving local municipalities and public agencies. The ideal candidate will demonstrate technical expertise, project management skills, and the ability to foster relationships with internal and external stakeholders, ensuring exceptional client service and project delivery. This is not a remote position.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with the design team to develop detailed and efficient roadway designs that comply with Caltrans standards, municipal regulations, industry guidelines, and specific project specifications.
  • Lead the development of project plans, feasibility studies, cost estimates, and scheduling for roadway infrastructure projects, including both highway and municipal roadways.
  • Oversee the selection of appropriate materials and preparation of engineering specifications for road construction and maintenance projects.
  • Design roadway alignments and geometric layouts for roads, intersections, and transportation facilities, prioritizing safety, accessibility, and environmental considerations.
  • Obtain necessary permits and approvals from relevant local, state, and federal authorities to ensure regulatory compliance.
  • Provide technical support during construction phases, including reviewing plans, resolving design issues, and monitoring progress to ensure adherence to project timelines and budgets.
  • Conduct inspections and quality control reviews to ensure design standards and specifications are met during implementation.
  • Integrate environmental considerations into roadway designs, including stormwater management and mitigation of environmental impacts.
  • Effectively monitor and manage project schedules, budgets, and progress while ensuring sustained profitability for the firm.
  • Build and maintain relationships with various industry professionals, jurisdictions, contractors, and community stakeholders, ensuring seamless collaboration and exceptional client service.

Qualifications

  • Professional Engineer (PE) licensure required.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or a closely related field.
  • 10+ years of relevant experience in roadway design and project management, with demonstrated expertise in both Caltrans highway standards and municipal roadway projects.
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD Civil 3D and MicroStation software preferred.
  • Strong understanding of local, state, and federal regulations pertaining to roadway projects.
  • Exceptional communication, leadership, and organizational skills, with the ability to work collaboratively across teams and disciplines.
  • Proven ability to meet project budgets and deadlines while delivering outstanding client service.

Salary Range:

$140,000 to $180,000
