About this role

Overview

Kimley-Horn has a challenging and rewarding opportunity for an experienced engineer for heavy civil infrastructure (mechanical) to join our growing surface water team in St. Petersburg, FL. The successful candidate specializes in civil and/or mechanical engineering.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with the management and leading of civil infrastructure projects
  • Develop full sets of drawings and technical specifications without guidance
  • Technical design and planning of heavy infastructure work including hydraulic lift systems, electric/drum and cable, roller gates, actuators etc
  • Perform design calculations, plan production activities, and prepare project document submittal packages, while maintaining a Quality Control program for the entire project
  • Lead and provide support for construction phase efforts on heavy infastructure water control projects
  • Support and participate in meetings and presentations with clients, contractors, and design team members

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Civil Engineering, or related field, required
  • History of providing technical design and planning in the areas of heavy infastructure work including hydraulic lift systems, electric/drum and cable, roller gates, actuators etc
  • Professional licensure as a P.E. in Florida
  • 5+ years of diversified mechanical engineering experience
  • Marketing experience including scopes of work, fees and budgets, and schedules
  • Strong desire and ability to be engaged with clients solving project problems
  • Ability to effectively communicate positively at all levels of the organization
  • Ability to manage and mentor staff and direct resources effectively in a positive manner
  • Demonstrated ability to manage projects and tasks profitably
  • Ability to multi-task, prioritize, and manage multiple simultaneous deadlines
  • Strong technical writing and communication skills
