Accounting Manager

Overview

Hexagon Autonomous Solutions is looking for a detail-oriented and proactive Accounting Manager to join our Finance team. In this position, you will be responsible for supporting day-to-day accounting operations, ensuring accurate financial reporting, maintaining strong internal controls, and driving process improvements across the finance function.

The successful candidate will play a key role in financial reporting, managing the fixed asset function, supporting treasury activities, and overseeing transactional accounting. This position also provides leadership and guidance across accounting functions while ensuring compliance with IFRS and company policies.

This role is ideal for a strong accounting professional who is hands-on, analytical, and able to work effectively in a fast-paced environment with multiple priorities and deadlines.

The Location: Hexagon is a global company with locations around the world. This position will be based in Calgary, Alberta.

Responsibilities

Key Responsibilities

Financial Reporting & Month-End Close

• Support monthly, quarterly, and annual financial closing and reporting
• Prepare and review journal entries, account reconciliations, and working papers
• Ensure timely and accurate financial reporting in compliance with IFRS and internal policies
• Assist with preparation of financial statements and reporting packages
• Review general ledger activity for completeness, accuracy, and proper authorization
• Perform analysis and provide financial insights where required

Fixed Assets, Treasury & Transactional Support

• Maintain ownership of the fixed asset module, including additions, disposals, transfers, depreciation, and reconciliations
• Support treasury functions including payment approvals, cash management, and cash flow monitoring
• Assist with banking activities and maintain proper controls around cash transactions
• Provide oversight and support for day-to-day accounting transactions across AP, AR, and general accounting functions
• Help resolve transactional issues and improve workflow efficiencies

Process Improvement, Compliance & Team Support

• Continuously evaluate accounting processes and identify opportunities for improvement
• Ensure compliance with internal controls, company policies, and financial procedures
• Support implementation of new systems, process enhancements, and finance initiatives
• Assist with audit requirements, tax filings, statutory compliance, and regulatory reporting
• Build strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders
• Provide mentorship and guidance to junior accounting staff, where applicable 

Qualifications

Must Have

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, or related field
• CPA designation preferred
• Minimum 5 years of progressive accounting experience
• Previous managerial experience preferred
• Strong understanding of IFRS and financial reporting requirements
• Experience with fixed assets, treasury, and general accounting functions
• Proficiency in ERP systems and financial reporting tools
• Advanced Microsoft Excel skills with strong analytical capability
• Strong attention to detail, organization, and problem-solving skills
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet tight deadlines in a dynamic environment

Nice to Have

• Experience in a multi-entity accounting environment
• Exposure to consolidation and reporting systems such as OneStream
• Experience supporting audits and statutory reporting
• Background in process improvement and system implementation
• Experience mentoring junior team members and supporting team development
