Senior Research Associate

Overview

You are expected to work closely with colleagues in research, marketing, technical, and other functions across all company locations. The role includes collaboration with academic and industry partners, close interaction with the sales and technical teams, and customer visits. In addition, you will contribute to product and process development for aquaculture by following the company’s Product Innovation Process (PIP). The position also requires practical bench work in the laboratory, including generating, analyzing, interpreting, and reporting results, as well as publishing scientific and technical articles in the Kemin database and in peer-reviewed scientific journals.

The position is based in Brazil but travel within and outside the country will be required for attending conferences, interaction with the Aquaculture team in other locations and for conducting university studies, farm trials and customer visits.

Responsibilities

• Follow the Product Innovation Process (PIP) to develop feed additives and ingredients for Aquaculture.
• Coordinate with the research teams across various KAQ locations on projects
• Publication of scientific and technical articles in Kemin database
• Participate in customer trials and analysis and develop data to support the sales and technical teams
• Work along with the sales and technical team on customer trials, trainings and promotion activities
• Develop methods of analysis and SOPs for aqua feed, feed ingredients and water.
• Coordinate with Universities and industrial partners on projects and animal trials
• Prepare PIP and R&D updates, and publish internal publications, source documents and review papers on a timely basis
• Studies in coordination with regulatory, quality and production teams on new product development, scale-up and registration process
• Carry out literature search and identify appropriate methods and approaches for research
• Maintain accurate and up to date records of all research activities in laboratory note books and other forms as required.
• Protect all confidential information such as formulations, trade secrets and other commercially sensitive information.
• Carry out research activities with high scientific and personal integrity and also by following good scientific and laboratory practices.
• Conduct all research activities with strict adherence to the health and safety policies of the company.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree with specialization in Microbiology/Biochemistry/Biotechnology/Aquaculture with minimum 2 years of laboratory research experience.
• Strong knowledge in basic science and area of specialization;
• Excellent knowledge in Project management;
• Hands on experience in carrying out laboratory research and animal trials;
• Basic knowledge on Computer and Proficiency in MS-Office;
• Technical writing in English.
