About this role

Overview

Seeking a solo practitioner to meet our growing demand for an attorney licensed to practice in North Carolina. Ideally, the attorney has practiced for at least a year and has an interest in helping consumers resolve issues related to their debt. We will provide the attorney with a solid stream of income and the freedom to focus on legal work, not sales.

The ideal candidate must be able to work independently and have superior organizational skills. This position imparts broad responsibilities with strict time deadlines and exposes you to various areas of consumer law, including civil litigation defense, debt resolution, bankruptcy, the Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA), and the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act (“FDCPA”).

 

Responsibilities

Principal Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Providing prepaid legal services for a prepaid legal services plan registered in North Carolina.
  • Maintaining a challenging and diversified caseload.
  • Provide initial consultation to clients.
  • Assist and advise on litigation and non-litigation files.
  • Negotiate with opposing parties to resolve/settle claims.
  • Drafting Pleadings, Motions, Legal Memoranda, Stipulations of Settlement, etc.
  • Build relationships with opposing parties.
  • Keep clients updated on a regular basis.
  • Ensure all assigned accounts are worked timely.
  • Provide file updates routinely and/or upon request to support staff.

Required Skills & Experience:

  • Must be currently admitted to practice law in North Carolina (multiple-state admission is a big PLUS)
  • Ideally 3 years of relevant experience at a law firm but open to recent graduates as well. 
  • Bilingual in Spanish a plus!
  • Possess superior organizational & time-management skills necessary to meet strict time deadlines
  • Highest ethical standards and professional integrity
  • Exceptional written and oral communication skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to partner with employees of all levels throughout the organization
