Job Description

 

Compensation: $24.14 to $30.11 an hour - paid weekly

 

Available shifts: Days 7am to 7pm and Nights 7pm to 7am 2-2-3 Schedule

 

Job Summary 

The Production Lead supports daily manufacturing operations by coordinating production floor activities while completing essential administrative and reporting functions. This role provides hands-on leadership to packing teams, ensures production readiness, maintains accurate documentation, and serves as a key communication link between production, warehouse, maintenance, and management.  Candidates must expect to work in a one-team environment, where the actual work needed sometimes falls outside the normal job scope.  One Team.  One Novolex. 

 

Key Responsibilities:

 

Production Floor Leadership 

  • Assign packers and production lines based on staffing standards and schedules. 
  • Coordinate lunch and break schedules. 
  • Train new packers and support trainer development 
  • Reassign work and manage staff during downtime. 
  • Ensure production lines are clear and ready for setup. 
  • Communicate with warehouse, setup, and support teams. 
  • Review daily master cleaning records for completeness. 

 

Production Administration & Reporting 

  • Print and distribute production orders, labels, WIP tickets, and specifications. 
  • Compile, enter, and reconcile daily production reports. 
  • Maintain accurate staffing file per shift. 
  • Investigate and resolve production variances. (Ex. Locate missing printed LPNs at the end of a run) 
  • Enter and maintain data in SAP and other systems. 
  • Update, Print, and assemble all forms needed to support production. 
  • Prepare additional production and efficiency reports as needed.  
  • Maintain inventory of finished goods labels, product return labels, and production materials. 

 

Inventory, Compliance & Support 

  • Audit employees for PPE, Safety, and GMP compliance.  Provide direction where needed. 
  • Generate Work orders for maintenance tasks needed. 
  • Ensure the production lines are staffed to standard.  
  • Complete and send the End of Shift Production Reports. 
  • Close the shift’s Production in Insight. 
  • Ensure all safety incidents are reported to the Supervisor, or Alternate, immediately. 
  • Perform weekly GMP/Product Safety Audits with packaging associates and communicate findings to the Supervisor and Quality Lead. 
  • Provide backup Supervisor coverage as required.   
  • Perform other duties as assigned. 

 

Qualifications:

 

Education 

  • High School Diploma or GED required 
  • Associate degree preferred 

 

Experience 

  • 3–5 years of experience in a manufacturing environment 
  • Prior packing and/or production experience 
  • Team lead or lead worker experience preferred 

 

Skills & Abilities 

  • Strong organizational and multitasking skills. 
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, SAP, and other systems. 
  • Ability to read and interpret production reports and product specifications. 
  • Basic to intermediate math skills. 
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills. 
  • Bilingual Spanish/English preferred but not required. 
  • Ability to work effectively across all levels of the organization. 
  • Flexibility to work overtime, weekends, and holidays as needed.
