Job Summary

MINISO is looking for an Assistant Buyer who will be responsible for assisting the buying team in creating an exciting and timely product assortment that meets or exceeds the sales volume and profit for the department. We are looking for someone who has an eye for trends and strong business acumen.

Essential Job Functions

  • Perform support activities for the buying team, such as purchase order management, while building foundational buying skills and learning the keys to becoming a successful buyer.
  • Oversee the creation, updating, and maintenance of purchase orders. Ensure product attribute accuracy within our management databases and synchronize across systems.
  • Provide basic analysis of key business data to the Buying team, including the use of retail math to understand the business, monitoring of merchandise reports, Open-To-Buy, stock analysis and other ad hoc analysis to project sales and inventory levels.
  • Execute weekly reports diligently, analyze category and vendor performance, and identify business opportunities and challenges.
  • Learn the elements of negotiation and develop effective relationships with vendors by participating in in person meetings. This includes following up on shipments and resolving problems to ensure product is delivered and processed as directed by the Buyer.
  • Begin to effectively utilize and understand the merchandising systems and warehouse process.
  • Develop and demonstrate foundational product knowledge through in person shopping at MINISO Stores and at the competition. Utilize product knowledge to communicate to the Buyer new opportunities.
  • Partner with Planner to track planned receipt flow on a consistent basis. Display awareness of when merchandise is being received and make call outs to Buyer. Monitor & project orders to guarantee on-time delivery by liaising continuously with planning and allocation teams.
  • Support Buyers in preparation of key business meetings (i.e. vendor appointments, sample management, assortment planning) including formatting of reports.
  • Supporting the daily operations within designated buying area and developing partnerships with the buyer or associate buyer on all necessary tasks
  • Scheduling and attending market appointments prepared with strategic assortment plans, brand insights, and understanding of product with a data backed approach.
  • Collaborate with accounts payable to rectify any discrepancies in pricing and terms on invoices and inventory payments.
  • Support Buyer in cross-functional initiatives to maximize performance results and scale the team.
  • Monitor Beauty & Home industry trends. Actively looks at competitors’ sites and brings information/trends/findings to the team.
  • Managing the flow of merchandise and updating merchant boards and helping to maintain accurate Buy Sheets by department
  • Developing cross functional relationships with internal partners
  • Prioritizing and reacting with a sense of urgency to the requests from both the buyers and cross-functional teams
  • Organizing and cataloguing samples

Additional Qualifications

  • Rudimentary understanding of retail math
  • Highly organized with meticulous attention to detail.
  • Skilled in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint), Google Suite, and adaptable to learning new systems.
  • Collaborative, enthusiastic and research minded; ability to use feedback from others in a constructive way.
  • Results and deadline-oriented with a strong sense of follow-through.
  • Proven ability to work independently and collaboratively on team projects.
  • The ability to prioritize tasks in order to balance the immediate and long-term needs of the business with a high sense of urgency.
  • Strong communication, time management, and interpersonal skills

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Fashion Merchandising, Marketing, Business, or a related field preferred, but not required.
  • 1-3 years of experience in a retail buying role

Pay Range

USD $70,304.00 - USD $70,304.00 /Yr.
