We are recruiting for a Specialist, Professional Resources to join our team in our Toronto office. The successful candidate must have a minimum of 5 years of relevant experience, ideally gained in a professional services or similar environment, and will be responsible for supporting the delivery of the Firm’s talent programs, providing operational subject matter expertise within designated Centre of Expertise, and contributing to national Professional Resources initiatives and team operations. McCarthy Tétrault employees benefit from a hybrid work environment. This position is to fill an existing vacancy.

 

Salary Range (Toronto Only): $77,500 - $96,500 annually 

 

The offered salary may vary based on the candidate’s job-specific knowledge, skills, and experience.

 

As a Specialist, Professional Resources, you will be:

 

Talent Programs

 

Managing the service delivery of the Firm’s talent programs, including, and not limited to, some or all of the following : 

  • Recruitment
  • Conflict management, onboarding & integration including national orientation programs
  • Off-boarding
  • Leaves and secondments
  • Performance management
  • Work allocation
  • Compensation
  • Partnership admission
  • Mentor pairings and mentor awards
  • Law school liaison and student recruitment
  • Law society filings
  • Data collection
  • Engagement and social events

Centre of Expertise

 

Proven subject matter operational expertise to support a Centre of Expertise such as performance management, compensation or recruitment. As a SME tasks include, but not limited to:

  • Leading processes and collaborating with Firm members to improve and update.
  • Managing workflows and deliverables.
  • Building on knowledge and staying current with new technology, advancements and opportunities.
  • Liaising with Firm members with similar or relatable subject matter expertise.

Administration

  • Meeting planning and calendar management.
  • Preparing materials for meetings and attending where appropriate.
  • Administering confidential files in OneDrive.
  • Creating and maintaining intranet (espresso) pages.
  • Leading or attending and contributing to national PRG support team meetings.

Shared Services and Teamwork

  • Identifying PR processes, tasks, and project improvement opportunities and collaborating with PRG team and Firm members to improve.
  • Participating in national or cross-functional projects and liaising with other PRG team members.
  • Learning about changes in technology and ways to enhance work such as AI, Workday, viGlobal, MS Teams, MS Forms, MS Bookings, SharePoint and Client Connect.
  • Providing back-up support to the team.
  • Other general support, as required.

As our ideal candidate, you will distinguish yourself by the following profile:

  • Post-Secondary education in Human Resources, Administration, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience, ideally gained in a professional services (or similar) environment.
  • Fluent bilingualism (French / English) is an asset.
  • Excellent organizational, time management and interpersonal skills.
  • Exceptional client service skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision and manage competing priorities.
  • Flexibility to new ideas, frequent change in priorities, etc.
  • May require flexible lunch hours and some evening work during heavy workload periods.
