About this role

Overview

Mountain Home Services is currently seeking an HVAC Maintenance Technician to join our team! Our HVAC Maintenance Technicians specialize in diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining residential and commercial HVAC systems. The HVAC Maintenance Technician is responsible for performing routine preventative maintenance on residential and light commercial heating and cooling systems. The primary goal is to ensure system reliability, safety, and peak energy efficiency for our customers.

Qualifications

Do I Have What It Takes?

  • 2+ years of experience in maintenance, diagnosing & troubleshooting, and correcting diverse HVAC system issues
  • Mechanical aptitude 
  • EPA and/or RMGA certification required (NATE certification is a plus) 
  • Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills with a strong desire to exceed customer expectations
  • Results driven in a high-energy environment        
  • Attention to detail        
  • Must be able to follow directions and work independently

Responsibilities

What Will I Do?

Preventative Maintenance & Tuning

  • Perform comprehensive multi-point inspections on HVAC systems (Furnaces, Air Conditioners, Heat Pumps, and Mini-Splits).

  • Clean and service critical components, including condenser coils, evaporator coils, and blower assemblies.

  • Check and adjust refrigerant levels to manufacturer specifications.

  • Inspect and clean burner assemblies and heat exchangers to ensure safe operation and prevent carbon monoxide leaks.

  • Test all safety controls, limit switches, and thermostats for accuracy and proper cycling.

  • Lubricate motors and bearings; inspect and tighten all electrical connections.

Filtration and Air Quality

  • Replace or clean air filters according to system requirements.

  • Inspect ductwork for leaks, obstructions, or insulation issues.

  • Clear and treat primary and secondary condensate drain lines to prevent water damage.

  • Check and calibrate humidifiers and air purification systems where applicable.

Documentation and Reporting

  • Complete a detailed digital maintenance checklist for every visit, noting system vitals (static pressure, temperature rise/drop, amp draws).

  • Provide homeowners with a clear summary of the system’s current health and performance.

  • Document any potential issues found during the visit that may require future repair or replacement.

Customer Consultation & Sales

  • Explain the benefits of regular maintenance and offer service agreement renewals to customers.

  • Identify and recommend proactive repairs (such as failing capacitors or worn contactors) to prevent emergency breakdowns.

  • Educate customers on proper thermostat programming and basic system operation to improve home comfort.

Compliance and Safety

  • Maintain a clean and organized service vehicle and job site.
  • Adhere to all safety protocols, including proper handling of refrigerants (EPA 608 compliance).
  • Participate in ongoing training to stay current on new high-efficiency equipment and maintenance techniques.
