Pediatric Specialty Care at Lancaster provides specialized, long-term care for children and young adults with complex medical and developmental needs. Speech therapy at PSC is delivered with intention - supported by interdisciplinary collaboration, realistic caseloads, and the time needed to make meaningful progress.

 

We are seeking a Speech Therapist who is committed to pediatric, family-centered care and values consistency, clinical collaboration, and functional outcomes.

The Role

  • As a Speech Therapist at Pediatric Specialty Care, you will support children and young adults with communication, feeding, and swallowing needs in a structured, medically supported environment. Your work will focus on improving daily function, safety, and participation—while partnering closely with families and care teams.

Key Responsibilities

  • Plan, develop, and implement pediatric speech therapy services in accordance with clinical, regulatory, and facility standards

  • Conduct evaluations, screenings, and ongoing therapy for speech, language, feeding, and swallowing needs

  • Develop individualized treatment plans with measurable, functional goals

  • Collaborate with families, caregivers, nursing, and interdisciplinary team members to support each child’s communication and safety

  • Recommend and train on adaptive equipment, feeding strategies, and alternative or augmentative communication tools as appropriate

  • Maintain accurate, timely documentation including evaluations, progress notes, and discharge planning

  • Participate in quality assurance, education, and performance improvement initiatives

Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in Speech-Language Pathology

  • Current, unencumbered Pennsylvania license as a Speech Therapist

  • Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC-SLP)

  • CPR and First Aid certification

  • Strong clinical, communication, and organizational skills

  • Pediatric experience preferred; medically complex or long-term care experience a plus

Responsibilities

Speech Therapist - Speech Language Pathologist:

Clinical Assessment & Therapy Services

  • Provide speech therapy services in accordance with Speech Therapy Department policies and physician orders.

  • Perform individual speech and language evaluations upon admission and conduct screenings at regular intervals to assess changes in functional status.

  • Complete comprehensive and specialized evaluations to support treatment planning and implementation.

  • Interpret and communicate evaluation findings to individuals, families, and interdisciplinary team members.

  • Establish individual therapy schedules in collaboration with other care team members.

  • Develop and implement individualized treatment plans, including short- and long-term goals and appropriate therapeutic interventions.

  • Monitor individual response to treatment and modify interventions as needed to achieve established goals.

Feeding, Communication & Equipment Support

  • Recommend and coordinate feeding regimens in collaboration with dietitians and medical providers.

  • Provide, recommend, and prepare appropriate food consistencies, adaptive devices, and equipment for feeding.

  • Assist with providing oral care to individuals as indicated.

  • Provide, recommend, and train individuals and caregivers in the use of adaptive equipment and augmentative and alternative communication (AAC) systems.

  • Develop appropriate home or community programming to maintain and enhance functional performance.

Documentation & Administrative Responsibilities

  • Maintain accurate and timely treatment records, individual files, progress notes, and required documentation.

  • Document results of assessments, treatments, follow-up, and discharge/termination of services.

  • Ensure all documentation is informative, descriptive, and reflective of individual response to treatment.

  • Complete required administrative forms, reports, and submissions in accordance with facility procedures.

Discharge Planning & Continuity of Care

  • Participate in discharge planning and coordinate transition services as appropriate.

  • Initiate referrals when indicated and in accordance with Speech Therapy Department procedures.

Program Development, Quality & Compliance

  • Assist in developing, implementing, and maintaining therapy standards, policies, and procedures.

  • Review therapy policies and procedures annually in conjunction with the facility Policy Committee.

  • Participate in Quality Assurance, performance improvement, and facility committee initiatives focused on improving care outcomes.

Education, Training & Supervision

    • Supervise students and volunteers in accordance with state and facility regulations.

    • Coordinate and provide training for staff and caregivers related to communication, behavior, language, articulation, and feeding.

    • Assist with training dietary staff on food preparation standards as related to feeding and swallowing plans.

Speech Therapist - Speech Language Pathologist:

  • Master’s degree in Speech-Language Pathology
  • Current unencumbered license as a Speech Language Pathologist from the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania
  • Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC-SLP)
  • CPR and First Aid certification
  • Strong clinical, communication, and organizational skills
  • Pediatric experience preferred; medically complex or long-term care experience a plus
